In a letter issued today which KI Media had received a copy, Funcinpec is announcing a number of measures it intents to take for its struggle to survive following the fallout between prime minister Hun Sen and prince Ranariddh. As if expressing the prince's past personal regret, the announcement also revealed that prince Ranariddh declined the crown offered to him earlier to the benefit of his younger half brother, Norodom Sihamoni. No such intimate revelation was provided during the selection process of the new king following the abdication of the former Monarch, King Norodom Sihanouk. The following is a translation by KI Media team of the above announcement.

Funcinpec Party

Announce

The secretariat of the Funcinpec party is informing the public and its members the following:

  1. Funcinpec has organized a technical team to attend to the personal needs of Samdech Krom Preah Norodom Ranariddh, Funcinpec president.
  2. Funcinpec is reorganizing its structure and its organizational leadership of its secretariat.
  3. Funcinpec is welcoming and supporting the declaration made by Samdech Hun Sen on 02 March 2006 for the strengthening of the cooperation between the CPP and Funcinpec by permanently safeguarding the current government in order to preserve the political stability and the good national development in the spirit of future national reconciliation.
  4. Samdech Krom Preah NorodomRanariddh, the President of the National Assembly, had resigned from his position as President of the National Assembly on his own accord in order to spend more time to work with his constituents.
  5. As the public already know, Samdech Krom Preah Norodom Ranariddh, the President of Funcinpec, had declined to accept the crown from the former monarch so that he can work directly with the people and all members of Funcinpec.

Therefore, the current resignation from the presidency of the National Assembly is a correct decision by the Prince because in his position as President of the National Assembly, he is very busy leading the National Assembly and leading numerous international affairs, these did not leave him enough time to interact with the population.

During the meeting held on 04 March 2006 at the headquarter of the party, all leader party members of Funcinpec had unanimously supported the noble decision of Samdech party leader, and had agreed in unison to follow Samdech party leader in leading the Funcinpec party in the preservation of peace, political stability, and national development in the future.

The above announce is for information to the public and all party members.
