An opposition lawmaker has written to Prime Minister Hun Sen calling for a full investigation of the Ministry of Land Management's finance director, following allegations last month that some $200,000 was embezzled from the ministry's budget. Assemblyman Keo Remy in a Friday letter requested a probe of Pho Vuthy by officials from the National Audit Authority, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of National Assembly and Senate Relations and Inspection. "Please Samdech Premier, set up a mixed committee… to investigate Mr. Pho Vuthy" for allegedly embezzling from the national budget, Keo Remy wrote. Pho Vuthy said Tuesday that he has acted according to the law and is not concerned by any allegations against him. He noted that officials from the Ministry of Finance have already been investigating the case for more than a week. Nearly 500 pages of documents purportedly detailing corruption at the ministry were leaked by a senior ministry official late last month.
