Cambodia's National Military Police Commander Sao Sokha was elected as the new president of the Cambodian Football Federation, local media reported on Tuesday.
The election was held on Monday under the presiding of Kol Pheng, Minister of Education and Sport.
Keo Sareth, who was elected CFF secretary-general, said after the close-door vote that the new 11-member CFF executive voted unanimously for Sao Sokha, replacing former president Khek Ravy, who had held the position since 1998.
Voters chose the 11 members from the country's 34 registered football clubs and the outgoing nine-member CFF executive, which included Khek Ravy, Keo Sareth said.
"We voted for (Sao Sokha) to be president 100 percent," he was quoted by The Cambodia Daily as saying. During his forthcoming four-year tenure, Sao Sokha promised to turn the much-criticized national team around.

Let's see what Sao Sokha can do. Khek Ravy did little to nothing for Cambodian football. That's why they were always at the bottom of every tournament table.
From the time he takes his office as the new president of the CFF, numberous things started to happen. 1)South Korean Business pledged like quarter million dollars to help the National team. 2)ASEAN U17 championship was hosted by Cambodia, the first time any kind of international event like this happened in Cambodia since 1975. 3)The Starfish Youth League are growing and helping 500 kids, staying healthy with exercise and learning good lessons from the coaches who also serve as their mentors. 4)There are plans for Cambodian Football league to go professional at the near future.
Action speaks louder than anything!
