Kem Sokha (Photo Tith Sothea, VOA). Despite his claim in the newspapers recently that he will not form a political party on his own, in the interview with VOA, Mr. Kem Sokha stated: "... he has not thought about that yet". His statement seems to imply that he may think about forming his party in the future. Ambiguities in Mr. Kem Sokha's reply are cause of concerns among democracy-lovers in Cambodia. At a recent meeting with Cambodian-Americans in Renton, Washington State, USA, Mr. Kem Sokha proudly boasted that only his organization was able to gather 200,000 signatures demanding for his release from jail as well as that of other activists. He claimed that the opposition was not able to come up with such feat. This type of incendiary comments does not help patch up the drift between SRP and CCHR. Ultimately, the only people suffering from the CCHR/SRP row are the poor people of Cambodia who will be polarized by the wasteful and provocative behaviors of politicians and politician wannabes.
Hello VOA Call-in-Show With Mr. Kem Sokha and Mr. Pa Nguon Teang

Mr. Kem Sokha, director of the Cambodia Center of Human Rights (CCHR) was recently released from Prey Sar prison after being accused of being involved with a banner criticizing the government on International Human Rights Day.
He came for a more than two week-visit to the U.S. with his colleague Mr. Pa Nguon Teang, director of the CCHR's Voice of Democracy radio station.
The International Republican Institute (IRI) hosts this visit from 03-30 to 04-17. He and Mr. Pa met with the U.S. politicians, and Cambodian communities in Seattle, Washington, Minnesota, Washington, D.C., and will continue his visit to Lowell, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, San Jose, Long Beach, California.
One important thing resulted from his visit to Minnesota was the Minnesota assembly's resolution recognizing his work in the adverse of a number of totalitarian actions. In Washington, D.C., Tuesday, and for one week here, they will go meet senator John McCain, Mr. Mark Kennedy, both Republicans and Democrats, some American NGOs officials, the donor organizations such as the USAID, the NED, the State Department, Assistant Secretary Christopher Hill, Bureau of Asian and Pacific Affairs.
Mr. Kem Sokha says that after his release, his mind is clearer, and he is determined to find freedom for the Khmer people, and he will give his life for freedom for the people. About the rumor about him forming a political party, he says that he has not thought about that yet, for he still wants the people to have freedom and to have a better life. Now he can see that the people support him.
He says that the CCHR commissions look for strategies strengthening power in the grassroot levels for the people.
He is happy that the people join his forums. He expresses thanks for the U.S.' help in securing his freedom. He says not to believe the new Khmer policy.
He would like for the U.S. to focus on the freedom of expression and the justice system in Cambodia.
Mr. Pa Nguon Teang says that the Voice of Democracy pushes the human rights aspect forward and democracy in Cambodia. The radio station broadcasts 12 hours a day, 8 hours through Beehive FM 105 MG, and another four hours via FM 93 MG.
The Voice of Democracy radio station broadcasts accurate news, and has a culture of discussions about different viewpoints through a round table discussion program.
The radio's phone number is: 092-921-902. Mr. Pa says the people can call to give information and report problems in their communities.
The people inside and outside of Cambodia can also visit the CCHR website at www.vodnews.org.

Having Khmer blood, we sometimes cannot get rid of a sense of arrogance, harsh and unconstructive critisim towards each other. Please do not forget that Khmer people at the grassroot do not like arrogance. ALSO REMEMBER THAT THE VIETNAMESE ARE WATCHING US. PLEASE LET MR KEM SOKHA KNOW so he can be prepared. I do not like to see people like him leaving this plannet yet because the VN is not happy to see us prosperous. He may be another target of assassination.

When our motherland is invaded by a foreign country, we can see our Khmer Nationalists either stand up, or rather escape to the jungle to create a revolutionary group that was once used in history to fight back against enemies. But at this time, we do not have a jungle to go to because our borders have been taken over by casino's and land mines. Like an Ace of Spades, Sokha is one of a kind. So why are fellow Khmers afraid to see him jump into politics? Go for it.

For my personal idea, I don't think it is a right time for Mr.Sokha to form a party yet.
Whenever he claim for a party he won't be able to teach people or run the open forum like present.
People need him to help in their democracy education; People seem like hungry in democracy education.
So; I think better for him to stand as NGO to educate people as he is doing everyday.
I do't mean that; he coun't never form a party, but not rightnow.

I am not going to guess on the current developments. But, I think that it would be fool if he walks away from what he is doing now, and persue his next endeavor. Who knows? He does not have finiancial means and political "..." supports to follow through... SR did learn in the hard way. At least, he is trying to transition himself, then later on... join the goverment. If my theory is held..., why they chose this route? It is going more blood closing to the election year and date. After all, the white race will rule the world.
Kem's Sokha's popularity will split democratic votes between his new party and the SRP, leaving both party with very high risk of losing to the CPP.
The only thing that Kem Sokha's party will create for Cambodia right now is a diffusion and a break apart of a possible majority for SRP. Splitting democractic votes into will give CPP more proportion, percentage and upperhand- Again, another round of CPP rule for another half a decade before the next election after that. And Cambodia meanwhile continues to be encroached, illegally stripped of resources, and greater poverty.
Kem Sokha can help Cambodia more as a supporter of Democracy and the SRP party then by forming another party. IF HE LOVE CAMBODIA, HE NEED TO CONSIDER THAT. I TOTALLY SUPPORT HIM RUNNING FOR PRIME MINISTER LATER AND MAYBE IN THE SRP PARTY. BUT RIGHT NOW. CAMBODIA DON'T NEED ANOTHER ROAD BLOCK TO DEMOCRACY.
CCHR and SRP should not attack each other. They should talk to each other personally to resolve their differences. I wonder why all self-claimed DEMOCRATS like to attack each other via media. Do they know that 99.99% of Cambodian media belong to the ruling party? The CPP always resolve their difference within their circle cardres.
Little Cambodians benefits from the work of SRP and CCHR and other NGOs. When SRP and CCHR, they suffer and will eventually lost faith in the two organisations. If they are real democrats and champions of human rights, they should talk to each other, resolve their differences and unite to solve Cambodian problems. They need each other. Why they can bow to Prime Minister Hun Sen and not to Sam Rainsy or Kem Sokha? This should not be a big obstacle.
Whether Kem Sokha jumps into politics or not, is not a big blow to SRP if SRP is a good party. Kem Sokha can join SRP and strengthen the party if he wish. This is just for the future. Now, he should remain a Rights advocate.

The momentume that Mr. Kem Sohka is enjoying may follow him into the political areana. Stay focus on your human rights agenda. Politics and human rights issues have never gone well together. Take small steps and lend your name to a new political party, but not your own.

When SRP was established, people said the same thing "not a right time." And I believed that too. However, Mr. Sam Rainsy himself knew it was the right time. Mr. Kem Sokha now may have the same feeling that it is the right time for him. I believe if he opens a party now, it will indeed help SRP in the future.

VN’s Word Problem:
Sen has money in the bank. But he is still not sure if he can make enough money to buy an item of $5+1 because his partner is going broke. So he tries to get a new partner, Sam, who makes at least $2 to $3. At the same time Sok saw the opportunity. He knows he is able to make $2 to $3 which is enough to join with Sam and kick Sen away for sure. However, Sok’s family tells Sok do not do it because both Sam and him still can not come up with enough money for the item. Sam’s family dreams that Sam himself will make enough money $5+1 without sharing the item with anyone. If Sam still can not make enough, he would join with Sen rather than Sok because Sok is not 100% sure yet how much money he will make.
Solving the Problem:
1) Sen + Sam = $5+1 = Sure
2) Sok + Sam = $5+1 = Maybe
3) How about Sen + Sok? Who know…..right?
Wow….after calculation VN advices Sen “Don’t worry my boy…one of them will come to you…They will not get along with each other; instead they will fight until they die. Go to sleep my son and let them Wake up and Fight…”
