French citizens of Cambodian origin had gathered in a meeting on 30 April to discuss two issues: (1) the settlement of Vietnamese people in border areas, and (2) the creation of the special tribunal for judging former Khmer Rouge leaders.
The Cambodians living in France met at a hotel in Marie de la Queue-en-Brie, a suburb of Paris. The meeting was organized by the Cambodian League of Human and Citizen Rights (in French: Ligue Cambodgienne des Droits de l’Homme et du Citoyen).
The topics of the discussion, which lasted between 1:00 PM to 6:00PM, consisted of: “the violation of border lands by Vietnam” which was presented by Professor Douc Rasy, “the border treaties concluded between 1979 and 2005” which was presented by Mr. Sean Pengse, the former minister of mine and energy and current President of the Cambodia’s Border Committee, and “the tribunal for the former Khmer Rouge leaders.”
Furthermore, this Cambodian organization is planning to form a committee to follow up and record events involving Cambodia both inside the country, and on the international scene.
According to the announcement, the moderators of the discussion were: Mr. Chau Xeng Ua, Mr. Thoang Phan, and Mr. Kim Heng.
