The Buddhists from all over Cambodia are celebrating Visakah Puja to commemorate Lord Buddha's grace and merit upon us.

This year this annual ceremony is being conducted at the Udong mountain called Addharus where Buddha's ashes were kept.

This year also marks the Buddhist calendar year 2550. Beside regular people, senators, lawmakers, and government officials participate in this religious ceremony.

The Committee for national and international holidays' under secretary Chea Kien says that Visakah Puja or Buddha Day is the major Buddhist ceremony of the year as it celebrates the birth, enlightenment and passing to Nivarna of Lord Buddha on one day, the first full moon day in May.

This year the Buddhists celebrate the Visakah Puja on Friday 05-12, to Sunday-05-14.

I THINK CIVIL SOCIATIES AND OPPOSITION SHOULD EDUCATE YOUNGER GENERATIONS, STUDENTS AND THE PUBLIC OF THE IMPORTANCE OF Visak Bochea AS IT IS EQUALLY IMPORTANT TO HAVE "RELIGION ETC" AS THE NATION MOTTO. MANY PEOPLE IN CAMBODIA CLAIM TO BE BUDDHISTS BUT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS Visak Bochea AND ALSO DO NOT KNOW ITS MEANING.
