A number of politicians whom Prince Thomico wanted them to join in the new Sihanoukist political party in order to win the upcoming 2008 election, had expressed their hesitation in this participation.
Khem Veasna, former Sam Rainsy Party member of parliament, who wanted to form his own political party earlier, said on 09 June that he needs to review to see what the goals of the planned party clearly are before he can make a decision.
Khem Veasna said: “… we must need to discuss first, if we don’t discuss, I cannot decide whether to join or not. However, the idea of unity to construct the country is a good one…”
Kem Sokha, Cambodian Center for Human Raights president, said that he cannot participate in politics anymore, currently, he wants to actively work with civil societies instead.
Kem Sokha said: “… I believe that in the formation of a political party, if we only form it for our personal interest, or to serve our personal dream, it is of no use. Therefore, in politics, we do not act in it only to absolutely win over others, we must act in such a way so that we obtain the ability to change the society…”
Nouv Sivutharo, Funcinpec spokesman, declined to comment of the idea of forming this new political party.
Cheam Yeap, member of the National Assembly and senior official of the CPP, told local reporters that Prince Thomico has the right to form a political party, however, whatever representation this party will have, and even if there will be 100 political parties which will join it, it will never defeat the CPP.
This past 8 June, Prince Thomico provided an interview with Radio Free Asia saying that he wants to actively enter the political scene in Cambodia before the 2007 commune election, and he will participate in the 2008 legislative election. His entry on the political scene, will not be done through joining the current Funcinpec party.
The prince had also denied to local newspapers that he is forming this political party in the name of the former monarch King-Father Norodom Sihanouk.
Following the declaration of Prince Thomico, only the president of the Khmer Front Party had declared that it will join with Prince Thomico.
During the 2003 legislative election, numerous political parties had entered the fray, however, at the end, only 3 political parties received supporting votes and seats at the National Assembly.

Prince Thomico is on the right train but on the wrong track! Why would any Prince want to create many small political party for AH HUN SEN win the next election! Is this another reverse psychology invented by the Vietcong? ahaha
Prince Thomico is not doing Cambodian people a service for making such a stupid comment!
Thomiko have no idea to create the party because khmer people never know him well. I think behind Thomiko is Sdach kanhchass Sihanouk. For Sihamony's power Sihanouk will do anything for Hun Sen and big boss China, North Korea and Vietnam. By example of bad prince Ranaridh, Thomiko party won't get even one seat. Please go to the pagoda to listen the Buddha talk Thomiko then you will go to the paradise when you past away Hahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!
Samdech Thomico,
For the sake of Cambodia, for the sake of our own KHMER blood, and with the general public knowledge that more than 4 millions of VIETS are already in the country and more coming in freely everyday from VietNam BECAUSE OF HUN SEN's treaty with the Viets...please, please, prove to the world that YOU CARE FOR KHMER before it's too late, AND THAT "YUON" IS YOUR ENEMY NOT KHMER...
