Rumor mills: Hun Sen’s son could be the owner of 7 hectares of land in Sambok Chab Village

Hun Sen's family

According to a source who is an official within the CPP, one of Hun Sen’s son is the owner of the land which was in dispute by several thousands of families in the Sambok Chab village, Tonle Bassac district, Phnom Penh. The Sour Srun company is only a facade hiding Hun Sen’s son so he can avoid the people’s criticisms.

It was because the land ownership belongs to the son of the prime minister, that the Phnom Penh municipality authority had used force to remove people in this community since the beginning, and it also caused the death of a villager.

When the city was governed by Chea Sophara, then-former Phnom Penh governor, the authority had used underhanded method to remove people from this community once already by causing a fire. It was learnt that the fire was intentionally set by a person working under the governor of Phnom Penh in order to remove people from Sambok Chab village.

The method to remove people from this area was stopped for several years until the era when Kep Chuktema became the governor of Phnom Penh. He also used underhanded method to remove the people again. The authority used violence against the Sambok Chab village residents with electic baton, throwing people on the car, destroying their homes and causing the collapse of homes on a pregnant woman and a child. It also cut water and electricity, prevented NGO and Sam Rainsy Party officials to intervene or provide food and medicine to the victims.

Since Tuesday morning, the police and military police force was posted along the entrance and exit of the Sambok Chab village, it even prevented the entry to reporters who wanted to obtain news from this area.

An official from the Phnom Penh municipality said that in all areas where there is land dispute between the people and Yeay Phan (owner of Phanimex), or in Sambok Chab, the authority is not scare to use violence to remove the people because the owner of the land is the son of Hun Sen. In all land disputes with the owner of Phanimex, the daughter of Hun Sen would back the Phanimex company up, and the recent dispute in Sambok Chab is backed by Hun Sen’s son who recently got married.

Even if the authority is using great force on the people in Sambok Chab and caused injuries and death, the authority is still accusing the people of Sambok Chab as the culprits. However, the authority is not handling the village chief who is colluding with the land thieves who paid bribes in order to grab lands in the region of Trapeang Krasaing at all. However, those who really live there, they did not receive anything.

In the case of the land dispute between the Banana Center and the ministry of information, the authority also used force in preparing to violently destroy the sign of the Banana Center located near Wat Phnom. In this case, the ministry of information is at fault because it cancels a lawful contract and turns around to give Yeay Phan the ability to develop it for her personal interest. This action was supported by Hun Sen’s daughter.

People, especially in Phnom Penh, have noted that when there are land disputes between the Phanimex company and the people or any other parties, the authority always come down hard on the people or the other party using violence, and it would not use peaceful means such as in the Banana center and the Sambok Chab village cases.

Hun Sen’s wife and daughter both also have shares in Tela company. It is known that this company does not pay tax to the government, and even if it does, it is only a very small amount.

Last month, a people’s movement in Thailand consisting of several tens of thousands of people have demonstrated all over the country, demanding that prime minister Thaksin step down because he was involved in corruption, clannish activities, and in particular, he allowed his son and his family to do business under his influence which caused a miss in earned revenue of several thousands of million of dollars.

In Cambodia, the son, the wife and the family of Hun Sen are not only doing business which affects the state revenue, they even affect the livelihood of the people, in particular the thousands of people living in the community of Sambok Chab who are facing homelessness.

If the information indicating that prime minister Hun Sen’s son is the owner of the Sambok Chab village turns out to be true, this is a bad news for the people because human greed can never be satisfied. Today, Hun Sen’s son caused the hardship to several thousands of families in Sambok Chab, tomorrow, if Hun Sen’s son or his family need [land] in another area, they will give hardship to the people the same way as they do it now. Furthermore, they will also accuse the people of being at fault, whereas Hun Sen’s family members will never be at fault.

The Cambodian people clearly understand this problem. Therefore, at the next election, Hun Sen’s CPP will not be able to use money, rice, sarong, and 300 grams of MSG to exchange with their votes anymore.

A source in Tuol Krasaing informed Sralanh Khmer that another son of Hun Sen had left to Paris, France, because of this land dispute.

This is the kind of a country controled by a mafia leader. He took everything for himself and his family. This Suos Srun company is a Hun Sen company to confuse the public. It has also owned hundred of ha of land near Pochintong airport. We must refer this problem to the international criminal court for creating suffering to thousand of people who have lived there for most of their lives.

Cambodia is owned by Hun Sen and his family. He can give away land to his master, Hanoi, as much as he wants because he owns the entire country. What school do His daughters and sons graduate from? If he or she is an educated people, he or she should have a conscious of right or wrong decision making. If you use force against people, your act will someday be bounded against you.
Don't act like your father or mother. You need to think if you're in the same foot as those innocent people. How do you feel? If you don't have that conscious, you must be a dictatorship and gangsters who raise you the way you are. All of you have traveled abroad to study. Do you see American president or senator's children behave the way all of the Cambodian elites' children do? These Khmer governments don't see the world no matter how many times they come to visit US or developing countries. They come to enjoy their vacation and go back corrupt and intimidate people.

International court should look into all Cambodian in high office for their bank account. They all have a lot of money, luxiry cars, villas, business, and homes abroad. How do they earn so much money and how can they afford to buy all of these stuffs? Well, from world donations, bribe from the companies who do business in Cambodia, low rank officials need to give money to higher rank. If you need a job in government, you need to give them money. If you leave for vacation abroad, your place will be sold out to the other person who gives money to the one who is in charge and on and on. A lot of ways to make money in Cambodia government.

Hi all,

No matter what is happening now, it has its end, i still beleive the nothing can stay forever. I hope that all those corrupted people will be punished in the near future, the corrupted money must be returned back to cambodian people and those corrupted officier and their family should be punished and sentenced to prison.

Let them to do and happy with thier present, but they are not sure for the incoming future. Whether they can live peasefully or not if they lost their power, at the same time, the new govern should investigate all the money of the family's members of the gov officier, where they got it and eventhough they earn money from the legal way, we should investigate, where the money come from for starting their business.

I still do hope the gods have eyes. According to lord boddha, non can stay forever, it starts, it must have an end.

I hope, they will go to the hell and suffer like what we used to suffer.

I was born after Pol Pot but I have read a great deal about it. I still think it is better for Hun Sen to save Cambodia with the Vietnamese' help than let Pol Pot continue. I know that Vietnamese don't have a very good intention, but would you let Pol Pot kill the entire race. It's easy to put blame on people, but look at ourselves, have we done anything to improve the country.

I acknowledge that Cambodia is still poor, and it is hard for people to survive. I graduated and lived in Phnom Penh for a while, it was extremely hard for me to survive. I tutored a rich government official and had a few jobs still I lived like an animal in Phnom Penh.

But Cambodia has to start somewhere. Why don't we all help each other? Cursing Hun Sen won't improve anything.

The only regret I have is that I have not done anything for the country. Now I am outside of the country, I am trying to see every possibility I could do for Cambodia.
