OAKLAND, Calif. An 18-year-old suspected gangmember is due in court today to face charges in connection with the shooting death of West Oakland grandmother.
Leon Patterson is scheduled to be arraigned today in Alameda County Superior Court on suspicion of murder in the death of 58-year-old Lath La.
La died after getting hit by an errant bullet last week as she got out of a friend's car.
Witnesses told police that at the time, Patterson had been shooting at another car.
La came to the United States in the 1980s as a refugee from Cambodia.
Her funeral is set for tomorrow in Hayward.
