A heavy police presence in Mondolkiri province is making it difficult for right workers to keep contact with recently arrived Montagnard asylum-seekers, Adhoc provincial coordinator Sam Sarin said Thursday. Villagers are calling Adhoc with information about the Montagnards from Vietnam, Sam Sarin said. "It is very dangerous for [the Montagnards] because some of them are sick and one is seriously [ill]," he said. The group of 27 men, women and children has been hiding in the province since Aug 20 and are waiting for assistance from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Sam Sarin said the group has received no food for at least two days. Provincial Deputy Governor Nha Raing Chan denied that police were actively hunting the Montagnards. A UNHCR spokesman said the refugee agency has requested permission to travel to Mondolkiri province.

Why the Vietcong always afraid of the Montagard?
