Hun Sen asserts devotion to help grass-roots
Prime Minister Hun Sen as a politician on Monday asserted his devotion to help the grassroots, while presenting certificates of the Good Citizenship Award to the volunteers from the (NGO) Youth Star.
"Political leaders should understand the difficulty of our local people, and they should go to help people at the grass-root level," he said.
"If I retire from my political life, I will create an "Old Community" to help the society, the poor people, and the agriculture for the development of our country," he said.
However, he said, "people love to vote for me, so I will still continue to lead this country."
Meanwhile, he praised the 17 certificate receivers for they had educated some grass-root Cambodians on agriculture for about a year after they graduated from universities.
"In this way, they played a key role in joining the exercise of the Cambodian government to help reduce poverty and improve decentralization," he said.
"I strongly support the plan to have the award every year for the outstanding youth and citizens who help the community and society because they highly contribute to our local people and the development of our country," he said.
The government will consider to issue decree or sub-decree for these outstanding youth and citizens, he added.
Cambodia is a traditional agricultural country and rural products accounted for 31.44 percent of its GDP in 2005.

If you really want to help.. you should stop putting your names on every building, schools etc... that is being build by donors money....and claim that its your money... Everytime you borrow money from other country, you have to pay it back... Your Ph.d should have taught you that.
