Chief Buddhist monk Tep Vong Tuesday reacts strongly to a foreign porn website using Buddha images as its logo, calling it sacrilegious.

The website has stirred controversy within the Buddhist community, leading to calls to shut down the site.

While the website is currently banned in Thailand, the Cambodian authorities have yet to take action to block the site.

Ministry of Culture and Religion's state secretary, Chhorn Iem agrees with Buddhist Chief Monk and considered the website to be religiously harmful to the beliefs of Buddhism's principles in Cambodia.

Keo Remy, SRP party lawmaker appeals to the Cambodian government to cooperate with other neighboring countries to ban the site.

Buddhism in Cambodia dates back to at least the 5th century A.D., and after the 13th century Theravada Buddhism became the main religion of Camobodia. To this day, approximately 90 perecent of the 13 millions Cambodians are Buddhist.

Sorry guys and gals...this is about offending buddhism religion: one of Khmer core religions. I have to agree with Tep Vong on this matter. Thailand is already communicating to the US embassy to shut this website down. This is not free speech. This is an insult to one's religion. This is not right at all. I am not against Porno and neither pro-CPP or Yuons, but I am a Khmer buddhist. I have to protest against this website as well. This is about the moral responsibility of Koun Khmer. One can criticize, but one cannot insult my religion.

Does Tep Vong collaborate with the killers against Buddha's teachings?
Yes he does. Tep Vong may have not ordered to kill those innocence Khmers in cold blood, but he conspired with the crimes. The Evil does the crimes and the same Evil shouting at others for that? Tep Vong is HYPOCRITE. This ONE Show of Tep Vong to cover his many crimes against Khmer people isn't hilarous?
This Tep Vong is an ABSOLUTE EVIL.

Someone did this with intention to create the reaction of buddhists around the world. Like someone in Denmark depicted in cartoon Muslim's Mohhamad wearing turban with a bomd on the head, which created a death call by Muslims around the world. How about having the picture of Jesus Christ havinng sexual acts to test Christians reaction.

Hi 10;49pm.
You and others can try to do have Picture of the Lord of christ whatever you feel like. We are free to express our own Opinions. That's what freedom about. The bottom line is that in the west, people are mostly educated and more opened mind. I don't side with those who depicted Buddha at the porn site, I don't think is right, but HOW do you know these people are Christians? Just because their skin is WHITE therefore you assumed they are Christians? This is WRONG. Do you know millions are Atheists? However, the media tended to depict only Christianity where some Priests molested boys etc.. but the media failed to show the world how about about Monks or Rabi or Spriritual leaders of Muslims etc.. Are there some Monks, Rabi, Spiritual leaders also predators? This type of BAIT to catch the fish fianlly works though, because yes, the predators are in everywhere, such as Tep Vong whose hand stained with blood is practicing hypocrisy.
It is good for good Monks or Dala Lama eg., to speak up againts those who harassed Buddhism, but Tep Vong, Hun Se, Bunranny..whose hands ful of blood? To stand up against those ferocious aniamls (porn site) the job should be all Buddhism at least Dala Lama.

The facts today Buddhism doing the opposite from Buddha teaches. Those who called themselves Buddhist failed to practice Buddhism, that's why many Atheists or others mocking at.

Buddhism NEEDS to be Reformed. They called themselves Buddhists but they BETRAYED Buddha, and why do they want a respect? If anyone does not see that Buddhism needs to reformed, then something must be so wrong.

Use your intelligence and practice what you preach, folks. The true is that the Buddhism in Cambodia is purely fake. Tell me if I am wrong.

WRONG, my friend. Buddhism in Cambodia is far from fake. Just like any other religion (Christianity, Islam, Hindu) there exist corrupt and extreme individuals.

The churches in America have more money than most corporations; and I believe it generates more money than most countries around the world....tax free. There appears to be more fanatic, extreme factions in Islam than any other mainstream religion. Buddhism too have people who are there to fatten their own pockets.

However, as a whole, Buddhist tries their best to follow tradition. You don't see many rich buddhist walking around. However, there's quite a few Christian ministers that are making millions from their congregation. This doesn't make one religion better than the other. Just pointing out the obvious.

As for the issue of pornography and religion, I personally oppose the website, but support free speech. The reason I oppose the website is NOT because it depicts pornographic scene of Buddha, but rather because it can harm innocent children.

Christian and Jesus porn has been a fetish all over the Internet. Yet, you do not hear many people crying over it. The reason is because there are more "liberal", open minded Westerners than there are extreme right wing wacko Westerners.

There should be more outcry of "child pornography" than graphical pictures of Buddha.
