Cambodia needs about 4,000 lawyers for serving cases across the country, Ky Tich, president of the Bar Association of Cambodia, said on Thursday.
Cambodia needs to have enough lawyers in order to provide protection for poor people and people in remote areas, Ky Tich told Xinhua by phone, adding that Cambodia also needs lawyers to provide consultation for foreign investors and local businessmen.
"We did not have enough lawyers for all cases, which have occurred at courts," he said. Many Cambodian lawyers work in Phnom Penh, but other provinces are lack of lawyers to defend cases, he added.
Meanwhile, Cambodian Minister of Justice Ang Vong Vattana said that more human resources are needed in Cambodia for exercising legal procedures.

Ky Tich: It doesn't matter how many lawyers you need, your present lawyers do not find justice for your own people. What kind of Cambodia lawyers are? They're not competent to be lawyers.
