Singapore is planning to buy sand from Cambodia for all its construction needs, Sun Chanthol, the Minister of Public Work and Transportation, said on 24 April, during a conference held at his ministry, that there are currently a number of countries that want to buy sand from Cambodia, in particular Singapore which needs a lot of sands for its construction needs. Sun Chanthol quoted Prime Minister Hun Sen who requested the Ministry of Public Work to study and to agree on the sale of river sands to Singapore. Chan Yutha, a government official from the Department of Water Resources, said that he is aware of Singapore’s desire to buy sands from Cambodia, but that Cambodia is still evaluating this issue because the department does not know yet what kind of sands Singapore need. Sun Chanthol said that in the past, Singapore used to buy sand from Indonesia, however, because of political problems between the two countries, the sand purchase was canceled. Furthermore, sands from Vietnam does not meet the quality requirements that Singapore need.

It is a good opportunity to clear sections of our rivers of sand banks and sand deposits which block or weaken water flows or make navigation impossible or difficult, especially in the dry season. But make sure we are not upsetting our Indonesian friends.

We need to preserve sand along our coast and around our sea islands. It is mostly white sand which is the principal component in glass making.

Singapore want to create an Island by pouring sand into the ocean!!!

Cambodia need alot construction materials for their need too!!!!
Sand is the ultimate product which don't need to grind any further and just mix it and ready to construct any project right of way!!!!!!Cambodia don't need to create Cementary factory!!!!!!

What Cambodia need is glasses factory by using sand to manufacture car window, house window, and glasses for all purposes and Cambodia will bring in hundred of million of dollars!!

I know for a fact the AH THIACONG businessman want to tear down Cambodian mountains in Kampot just to produce cement!!!Why tear down a fucken mountain when Cambodia have sand!!!!!

Sand is a good natural resource and if not manage properly Cambodian people won't have any sand to built their houses, skyscrapers, brigdes, roads,...

Just remember Cambodian people don't even have trees anymore to build their house under Samdech HUNN SEN leadership!!!!!

To 5:25AM dumb ass!

ahahahahhah! You are talking about chemistry 101 here! You such a dumb ass! There are plenty of sand in Cambodia from rivers and lakes!!!Those sand from rivers and lakes are the one that is used for construction and building material!

Yes!! it is possible to desalinate sea water from sand but it can be very expensive! By the way there are many countries around the world had been desalinating the sea water for drinking water for decade now!!!!

Cambodia need a glass factory to fulfill the need to Cambodian construction of all kinds!!!!The race is on!!!!!Whoever can come up with the first glass factory in Cambodia will be the next millionaire!!!!!Cambodia will be experiencing construction boom in the near future!!!!
