The Phnom Penh police is investigating to find the author(s) of the leaflets criticizing former monarch King Norodom Sihanouk and China, saying that the pair are involved with the Khmer Rouge. Touch Naroth, Phnom Penh police commissioner, told The Cambodia Daily that the leaflets criticize the revered King-Father in order to create unrest in the community. Touch Naroth said that the authors of the leaflets want to prevent the Khmer Rouge Tribunal from functioning, however, he does not believe that they can create this prevention with a few leaflets only. Phorn Pheng, Daun Penh district inspector, said that he collected only 4 leaflets near Wat Phnom during Sunday night. Touch Naroth said that the leaflets were passed around from one person to another by photocopying and sharing among friends. Sok Phal, the national deputy police commissioner, said that he has no clue as to who was behind the distribution of these leaflets.

The question is who provide weapons and aids to the khmer rouge? iT'S china.
And who had called on innocences khmers citizen to join the khmer rouge from 1970 -1975 on Peking's Radio?it was Sihanouk.
khmer rouge will never be a formidable force until Sihanouk joint them. see film.
The trial w/out sihanouk in it is unfair.

It's all about power greed and it still is power greed. That is a sign of stupidity from a leader. When will they learn???

It was Lon Nol who did the coup against Sihanuk; in order to restore his power Sihanuk called on Khmer Rouge to fight Lon Nol. But there were a host other evil reasons in Lon Nol control that gave rise of KR. With the American soldiers now in Cambodia so did the American aids; thus there were tremendous increase in corruption, prostitution in addition to American bombings, weak governing ect... that lead the rise of KR. I believe the future of Cambodia would have been much different if there weren't the Lon Nol's coup. I also believe Sihanuk did make a big mistake by believing the KR to recoup his power. For this he holds some responsibility for the suffering of Khmer people today and I also believe he is nationalist but he made a mistake.

Sihanouk always declared that Cambodia is neutral, but the whole world knew it was not. Ho chi ming trails were built inside Cambodia to fight a sovereigh nation in the south.Cambodia land along the border with vietnam was used a sanctuary for vietcongs and north vietnam. These forces created many problems for khmer people at the frontier when the American and the south army attacked those sanctuaries , and who was SIHANOUK blamed, he blamed AMERICAN.He seem to forget who provoque the retaliation. Cambodia under sihanouk was so much similar to the today TALIBAN.The prince and a chief of state who preferred COMMUNIST than the WEST.And who foresaw this coming communist's danger?, i believed our general LON NOL. It was not at all a coup but rather a last resort to save our beloved country.Cambodia was like a timed bomb ready to explode .
Khmer rouge was created a long time ago before the khmer republic. Somlot is the key word if you don't know.In my view it was Sihanouk who create all this chaos for our Cambodia.

We are here not to defending anyone but lay out the facts and learn from our past leaders. If you open your mind you would see a bigger picture of the Cambodian politics. You said "i believed our general LON NOL. It was not at all a coup but rather a last resort to save our beloved country.", I wonder what had Lon Nol done better to save Cambodia from the time bomb beside let the Americans bombed Cambodia with massive Cambodian deaths, even widespread corruption, rise in prostitution, weak government and so on..

While everyone in the medias included the U.S government acknowledged it was the American-aid coup in Cambodia you denying it rather save? Cambodia from chaotic when the reverse happening?

I think Cambodia would have been in much different scenario if it wasn't for the Lon Nol's coup and the bombings. I think more Cambodian lives would have been saved with much less suffering.

Now that I know more of the world, I believe Sihanuk was walking under the fine line between the two super power namely China and American. I think he might have thought that the Communist would eventually won over... so to be ahead of the curve he sided with China. He wanted to be on the winning side but not knowing that American working its way to get rid of him with Lon Nol. It was his mistake not to have good relationship with the American and balance of their concerns.

Cambodia is so small to easily be influenced or exploited by the super power. We must learn from our past mistakes. From now on in the name of evolution, Cambodia must learn to be quicker, smarter and more adaptive to the changing environments if we want to survive and continuing the existence of the Khmer land, race and culture. It is irreversible for what happened in Cambodia's past but for the future of our children there are a whole lot we can do.
