Farewell to Koh Puos (Snake Island) development after Trofimov's arrest?

Charges brought against Russian businessman in Cambodia

MOSCOW, October 18 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that charges have been brought against Russian businessman Alexander Trofimov, accused of the sexual abuse of underage girls in Cambodia.

Trofimov, 41, was arrested in his house in the popular Cambodian resort of Sihanoukville, late on Wednesday, after the parents of seven alleged victims, some as young as 12, filed complaints against him.

Police say Trofimov, who is the chief of the Cambodia-based Koh Pos Investment Group, had sex with two girls in 2005, and with another five this year. The oldest of them is said to be 14-years old.

Local police are currently questioning the suspect, who denies all charges. The Russian embassy in Cambodia is monitoring the situation.

At present, Trofimov is being kept in a remand cell in Phnom Penh. If found guilty, he could face up to 20 years behind bars.

In the last few years, Cambodia is a Target for the pedophiles. How can one protects a child, when money talks and the elite/rich person rules the country? It is very sickening to hear such horrific story on such abuses. Also, i'm glad that several pedophiles being prosecuted for their crimes.

Yes...the kind of foreign investment that fucks Cambodia over and over! I don't mind if these foreign investors fuck with the Vietcong slaves but to fuck with children is something to be condemned! These foreigners like to mix pleasure with business.

Cambodia is like a virgin woman who gets rape over and over!

It kind of abusing children and women in Cambodia for ten year and then you get in a land disput then you will be pushed away.......

What they care is their business , not the children..... It the criminal still work well with them then there are many children still be his prey. Who cares? Hun sen ,,, No way. He should be intelligent enought to prosecute this man since his first year in Cambodia. Not now. Hun Sen may not know how many young Cambodian being abused by him?

If Alexander Trofimov is related to President Putin then it will be unlikely that he will serve a jail sentence in Cambodia, if convicted. There are always ways out of the tight spot in Cambodia, if you're in the network.

There is no doubt that many high-ranking CPP officials have been abusing Cambodian children for years, but they are not prosecuted because they are in the network. They get the promotions for their loyalty to the CPP and the Viets, not for national patriotism or respecting a child's rights.

Double standards are a way of life in Cambodia.
