Phnom Penh - A Cambodian court has made its first conviction under its controversial monogamy law which makes adultery a criminal offense, a court official said Tuesday. Phnom Penh Municipal Court deputy prosecutor Sok Kalyan said Cambodian Football Federation first deputy president and nephew of Prince Norodom Ranariddh, Kek Ravy, had pleaded guilty to a charge of infidelity brought by his wife, Nina You.
"This is the first time we have convicted under this law. We just fined him the minimum amount of 1 million riel (250 dollars)," Kalyan said by telephone.
The monogamy law was passed September 2006. Prince-turned-poltician Ranariddh was the first to be charged under the law, which carries maximum penalties of hefty fines and up to a year in jail, but that case has stalled.
Kalyan said the court took into account the fact that Ravy had applied for a divorce 18 months earlier but it had not yet been granted because of wrangling over division of finances. His wife had demanded 500,000 dollars in compensation for his dalliance.

Cheater, that is all there is too it. It wasn't enough at home. It was his extra s.. supplement. What he should have done, is get a divorce first and then find somebody that he is sure able to fullfill his s.. appetise. It's people wrong bebavior, misconduct, a violation of law, his own marriage and self unforseen of the worse is coming. Well, now go and hide under the rug and that is too bad. Everybody is different and it just him that cann't control or direct himself to do the right thing. $ 250 of fine is nothing, compare to the whole world that knows about his bad bad behavior. He deserves it, Fool! he looks like fool and acts like fool!
When you already married, stay married. Don't like it & don't get along, move on, make the right decision and remarry to the right person. Don't put up with all those craps, your partner gives to you. Life is too short. Do the right thing and do it with dignity and so if, you have 7 husband or 7 wives. At least, it's one at time and solely devote your life to just one person. It's simple and better than tangle up with seven at the time. That is for you when you're single or unmarry. Do whatever you want and enjoy catching some STD. Who cares? but not when you're married. That idiot Prince seemed so confused and didn't know ta hell he's doing at all. Just throw in him in jail! He certainly don't sederve to be treat like a normal person. He's crazy.
Folks, don't look for any Khmer feature in any of those Westerner trained people because they all lost it.

Concerning preceding comment on Khmer features and Western training...what Khmer feature are you looking for? Give me a couple of good features please. Can you point out some good Khmer features in: Morality, ethics, philosophy, culture,religion, literature, art, education.....NO. I didn't think so.
Khmer features to date would be: Social decay, genocide, ignorance....etc...

Khmer good features are virtually no devorce, most child was raised under true love and caring, Virtually no child killing their own parent, Strong faith toward forefather, ancestors, and each other, Loyalty and respect ..., need I say more?
