A high-ranking Funcinpec party official indicated that about 10 Funcinpec party ministers and state secretaries defected to the CPP after Funcinpec faced problems with Prince Ranariddh.
On 04 January 2008, Ok Socheat, a high-ranking Funcinpec official, recognized the fact that a number of Funcinpec party officials defected to join the CPP. He said that, up to now, about 10 Funcinpec party members defected to join the CPP because they are afraid of losing their juicy government positions.
A source within Funcinpec indicated that, during this week, Chea Peng Chheang, state secretary of the ministry of Finance, and Mrs. Chhim Chamroeun, state secretary of the ministry of women affairs, defected to the CPP, in addition to a number of others Funcinpec defectors. Khun Haing, the minister of cult and religious affair and Ing Kanthaphavy, the minister of women affairs, also defected to join the CPP, the current ruling party.
Furthermore, Ou Bun Long, the former SRP secretary-general who defected to Funcinpec, Kong Vibol, state secretary of the ministry of economy and finance, Khov Meng Hieng, state secretary from the Council of Ministers, are known to have defected to the CPP also.
Ok Socheat said that only a small number of Funcinpec government officials who defected to the CPP. He added that the current Funcinpec party helps protect the roles and the positions occupied by Funcinpec party members in the government, the police force, and the army. He said that any Funcinpec party members who defect to join the NRP cannot preserve their positions and their royalist affiliations.
Besides the Funcinpec government officials cited above, it is also known that a number of other Funcinpec party officials also defected this party to join the CPP.
The flow of defection of Funcinpec party members started when Prince Ranariddh had a rupture of relationship with the CPP, and when the prince wanted to pull out of the government led by the CPP. The flow of defections kept going on because of internal dispute within Funcinpec, and this, subsequently, led to the removal of the prince from the Funcinpec party. The prince later formed the NRP party. Since that time, the popularity of the Funcinpec party faced ever increasing difficulties.

It is better that way, no more funcipoec. Only CPP and SRP. Nhek Bunnchay and other asslickers will follow suite. SRP will have a better to increase their vote.

I do not believe that the CPP will accept these newly-defected Funcipec high-ranking officials with full throttle. In fact, these defected officials know precisely how the CPP will treat them as defectors or deserters.

Many of us just joke around :) and interpret " weitch" as bad, but really that's what it means: walk or use the flexible way and not be ridgit in order to survive.

You shouldn’t be surprised. This is a natural political alignment. This is good for Cambodia in a long run. The more people leave FUNCINPEC and NRP to join different political parties the better.
When was the last time you hear these two parties do anything on behalf of the poor and the victims of human rights? The majority are good in fighting among themselves for power, position, and money. The best they did was paying lips service to issue before the election and after that business as usual.
Although this is their prerogative to move from party to party, the choice they made teaches us a great deal about who they are and what they stand for.
Wouldn’t that be good for the country if all the corrupts and the opportunists flock together in one party and the nationalists in the other party. Eventually, the Khmer people will see them as they really are. And eventually people will make the right choice.
Not all opportunists are bad, they just cannot be trusted.

These FUNCIPEC ministers have no principle and no moral. They defect to serve Hanoi interest. If they go to join CPP and Hun Sen, they're considered working for Hanoi interest. They try to help Hun Sen and Hanoi to get to Hanoi goal by controlling Khmer nation and her people. Later on they will be sent to reeducated camp in Hanoi to wash their brain.
They jump boat when their leader is in trouble and Hun Sen tries to break up all those parties in pieces.
These faces and these names, never carry arm to fight yuon at all.
But, these faces are always wait for the time is right for them.

These people got family & bills to pay just like us. If there is no future with NRP, why stay? Everyone knows, he is no good. He is also getting very old. His time is near.
As to why they are not joining the SRP? May be, it's too dangerous. Some people just cann't handle it, but they are not bad people. They are just like most khmers working for the Lon Nol Gov. when King Sihanouk got disposed in 1970.
Are they an ignorant people? No! They just don't care too much. These are follower and go with the flow or stay out of trouble type of people. We should not judge them or talking bad about them. That would be like The Khmer Rouge had subjected 2 millions of our own innocent people to crime that they don't know or didn't do. The result, those poor people are dead ! gone! and finished!
We all need to learn a great lesson from this.
Everyone should be freed to do what ever they want and whenever they want as they please. If, they don't feel right staying with NRP, they may leave. The same should go with The CCP or The SRP. If people aren't happy with you, let them go and try to do better next time. May be that will bring them back or at least they will consider voting for you. Now, that talking Khmer! We all should be freed!!!

Their whole party (FUNCINPEC) has been a "back-stabber, ass-kisser,bridge-burner" unprincipled party since they started to surrender to CPP for position. The sad thing is CPP cannot even trust them. You can collaborate and cooperate as a startegy, but not by stabbing the back and betraying your own partners.
