The department of meteorology of the Ministry of Water Resources hopes that its weather forecast will soon be more precise and timely, following the readiness of the weather satellite dedicated for Cambodia. The satellite (weather information) is an aid from Japan. Long Saravuth, the director of the meteorology department, indicated that the weather satellite for the entire extent of Cambodia is an aid provided by Japan, and it will be ready for action by the end of this month. The equipments for use with the satellite data have been sent to Cambodia already, and they are currently being set up. Long Saravuth added that this is the first time that Cambodia has access to satellite weather data by itself. “This satellite will help provide us with better information about weather change. Through this satellite information, we will know in advance about rain, where and when it will happen, the amount of rain, the extent of the rain clouds, its height, direction, and speed,” Long Saravuth said.
