The Phnom Penh court had asked the National Assembly (NA), currently in recess, to set up an extraordinary session to vote to lift the immunity of opposition leader Sam Rainsy. While it was impossible to obtain the confirmation from the court or from the NA in the evening of Tuesday 17 June, Sam Rainsy claims that this information is true.
Sam Rainsy is currently the target of a defamation lawsuit brought against him by Hor Namhong, the minister of Foreign Affairs, after he publicly said that the latter led the Boeng Trabek detention camp under Pol Pot.
“This is an intimidation attempt that proves that the CPP is in full disarray. (…) They want to scare me so that I leave the country, but I will not fall into their trap,” Sam Rainsy reacted. Dam Sith, one of the SRP candidates for the city of Phnom Penh, is also the target of such a lawsuit from Hor Namhong. Dam Sith spent a week in jail for temporary detention. He was released on Sunday 15 June after Hun Sen personally intervened.

We will stand by you 100% Mr. Sam Rainsy and the Srp. You do nothing wrong. You just want peace and justice khmer people and cambodia. Hun Sen is learning nothing about the past failure of cambodian leaders. Sihanouk was overthrown by lon nol because Sihanouk was stupid communist lover. Lon Nol and his regime were so corrupted that the reason why it was so quickly toppleed by khmer rouge. It's the same for Pol Pot and the khmer rouge regime, he won the war with Lon Nol because the people support him and his movement. But after he won the war, he don't care about people of all level who help him. He order to kill, torture, starve the people the whole country. There were close to 2 millions died. Hun Sen today walk and talk the same way Sihanouk, Lon Nol and Pol Pot. He's so greedy with wealth and power that he has gain up to now and he start to forget the people who help him to be where he's now. It's happening right now all over cambodia, the riches and the power government official are robbing the people wealth and their land. So it's only you now Sam Rainsy, khmer and cambodia savor. Stay focus on your messages, stand firm on what you believe, love all khmer people and the country.
Hun Sen and his regime are doing this to you because he is so scared. Every where he goes, he need a fews battallions of army and police to protect him. If he has real love from the people, don't need protection.
THe CPP want to cause a national crise by illegally remove the immunity of Mr Sam Rainsy. He was elected by his electorated during National election and was not elected by National Assembly, therefore he cannot be removed by all these monky. Only general election can remove his immunity. I agree with 4:08am. Sam Rainsy was elected by the people. He's not appointed by any branches of government.Those monkeys, judges and prosecutors sound and show themselves to the world how uneducated groups they are.
As a member of Parliament elected by people during a National election, Sam Rainsy has his full mandate to represente the people of Cambodia to make complain or to to invite any minister of the government to come and answers all the questions ask to them by Mr Sam Rainsy. Therefore I hope all member of Parliament should understood their role and their obligation to the people. They cannot be used by any monky to remove their member immunity. I have been involved in politic myself in foreign country. Therefore, these idiots should respect the immunity of Mr Sam rainsy.
