Cambodia should ask Thailand to probe the presence of its troops inside Cambodia's territories

Thailand asks Cambodia to probe new landmine laying

BANGKOK, Oct 17 (TNA) - Thailand urged Cambodia to investigate the suspected laying of land mines in the Thai-Cambodian border areas following the incident in which two Thai paramilitary rangers stepped on land mines and lost their legs while patrolling deep inside Thai territory on Oct 6.

Foreign Ministry deputy spokesman Thani Thongphakdee said the ministry's East Asia Department director-general Anuson Chinvanno had summoned Ouk Sophoin, Cambodia's charge d'affaires to Thailand, to present an aide memoire regarding the suspected laying of the land mine which injured the Thai rangers on the border inside Thailand's northeastern Si Sa Ket province.

A senior Foreign Ministry official called on the Cambodian government to investigate the suspected use of land mines by Cambodian forces, a move which may have threatened international peace and violated the Ottawa Convention prohibiting the use of land mines along the common border.

Though the Cambodian government had earlier dismissed allegations that they possessed PMN2 land mines, Thailand insisted that the requested probe should be eventually conducted by Cambodia to determine the truth, the ministry's deputy spokesman said.

It's another dirty strategy of Thai Government. It's one shoot to 3 birds. First, Thai strongly want to Cambodia loss face in front of international community, secondly, to trasfer attention of international community from current situation, thirdly, to make sure for another attack on Cambodia.

Cambodia should counter action by sue complaint on Thailand destroy intentionally our Preah Vihear temple. Pls collect all evidence like shieldnap... and sue them now to UNESCO.

Frankly speeking, domestically , Government use many tactices to subpress oppostion parties and peaceful desmontration by produce a lot of reason to accuse, but with Thailand, Government seem to be no any clear tactics or strategies to attack with Thai excepting no first shoot, peaceful solution, bilateral talk, even it's dare not to say it's thailand's invation ( Mr. Hor Nam Hong. Intentionally or tentionally, it reflect that the Government is strong only with own people.

The Thai government accusation is groundless and baseless without evident! It is very unprofessional for the Thai government to throw around accusation like this and according to the law and they will be condemned to extend of the law for defaming Cambodia reputation standing among international community!

Cambodian mine action center (CMAC) funded by donor countries had been operating in Cambodia for years to demine the whole Cambodia! CMAC will be the first to know if any new land mines were planted on Cambodian territories! In fact Cambodian government supported the ban of land mines use since 1997!

"Mine Ban Policy
The Kingdom of Cambodia signed the Mine Ban Treaty on 3 December 1997, ratified on 28 July 1999 and the treaty entered into force on 1 January 2000. Domestic implementation legislation—the Law to Prohibit the Use of Anti-personnel Mines—took effect on 28 May 1999.[1]"

To all Thais people, your government reported to the world that Thais armies were patrolling only on Thais side, never crossed to Cambodian side. So, how the hell did those two guys stepped on mine? And if the Cambodian just planted those mines on Thais side, why didn’t the patroller see it? Didn't thais armies and Cambodian armies always seating around together?

The story doesn’t make any sense?
