Cambodian Buddhists abuzz about Buddha hive

Wednesday, 12 November 2008

ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) — The Cambodian Buddhist community in Rochester is abuzz over what they believe is a miracle: a wasp nest in the shape of a seated Buddha built in the eaves of their temple. The nest was spotted last week. Elder members of the community say they have never seen an apparition of the Buddha in their lifetimes.

Seventy-year-old Voeun Sor of Rochester says the hive shows the Buddha is trying to tell everybody to seek peace in their lives.

Robert Jeanne is an entomology professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He says the Buddha-shaped hive could actually be four different nests formed over a couple of years. He says if someone wants to read miracles into that, that's their privilege.

Moeun Ngop is a 76-year-old monk. He has a more mystical take. He says the insects are trying to communicate Buddha's message.

8.15 am, you should not judge people in their belief. Be more open and kind in your heart by not critising others' belief. Let people believe whatever they want. You will never know when you wish for a miracle.

For Cambodia, it is like winning the 6 digits lottery when Mr. Hok Langdy died because he was the gang beings who make Khmers have thunder and raining depending on his wants. (www.makingbuck.blogspot.com)

That one thing I had noticed when I was traveling in Srock Khmer. Many towns and villages there are many new Pagodas are being built, but many families in that towns and villages are starving. I am a Buddhism myself, but I think our Khmer people are believing too much and are loosing logical think. I believe the money they spend to build new pagodas should help the population first and then looking for Buddha god after.

11: 21 am. I agree with you. Those Buddhists are too religious and think only about religion and the AFTER LIFE.

I am also buddhist, but I strongly feel revolting when I see many Cambodian people spent too much money on religious activities.

Those people or FUNDAMUNTALIST Buddists should follow the good examples of our CLAIRVOYANT Buddhist compatriots (monks and non-monks)who, guided by BUDDHA teaching, are being devoted their life to the poor and the WEAK.

Every year In our Country, you can see many Notorious Corrupt officials celebrate the KATHEN, spending lavishly a lot of money stolen from Cambodian people and the STATE.

Many monk chiefs are also well connected with those Corrupt officials and get a lot of money(for themselve?) and for the pagoda.

What does that mean? Are those MONKS doing business with those BAB people.

I am Buddhist too, I beleive that building huge temple shows unity to all. Although people are poor, but because of unity huge temple could be actually built. The power of unity is counterless. Other who criticited of why many temple here in US, why don't you look around that church is everywhere too. And to you who mocked down people beleif, you are prejudice at some point because you are violated to the first amendment, freedom of speech.

Get a life, guys
