Phnom Penh - A Cambodian electricity company worker was on the run after accidentally burying alive and killing a 13-year-old labourer, local media reported Monday.

Police said the boy was clearing rocks from a hole on Thursday where new power cables were to be laid when the excavator operator - unaware the boy was still in the hole - filled it with soil, the Cambodia Daily reported.

A police search began after the operator fled the scene and the electricity company paid the family 1,500 dollars in compensation for the youth's death.

$ 1500.00 for the death of a child due to gross negligence? Justice is not serve here. The company should train their emplyees well before using them to do such work. The compensation, even though this is in Cambodia, should be no less than a half million U.S. dollars to the family of the child who had to die in such a cruel way.

i think this case is a good scenerio for the job of the new head of police. see if he does his job well by seeking justice for the victims in cambodia. after all, what good is being a head of the police if you can't do your job right? got to be tough against injustice and tough with the law, my dear! otherwise, there are a lot of qualified individuals who are willing to take this job as head of police. thank you and may god help you.
