Tue 25-Nov-2008
Source: TTR weekly

Siem Reap Airways has suspended all flights on it’s International and Domestic routes. The suspension come hot on the heels of the EU ban on their flights within European Union members states air space.

Parent company, Bangkok Airways, are operating flights on the main trunk route in Cambodia between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. They are also operating between Bangkok and Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.

As we approach the peak season this will undoubtedly cause disruption for passengers and customers who have booked flights with Siem Reap Airways are advised to contact their agent immediately for advice. The airline had a schedule of flights in Cambodia, Thailand and to Laos. At this time it is not known if tickets can be transferred to other airlines or if refunds will be available.

watch out, don't let the khmer name fool you. siem reap airlines is a subsidiary of bangcock airways, and i'm glad the EU noted it and prevent them from monopolizing (which seems like bangcock airways trademark - monopolizing the cambodian air business)from taking advantage of the prolific EU market. i hope cambodia will have a national carrier company soon, so this kind of thief's monopoly can be put to history permanently. this is one way cambodia can stop depending on thailand for businesses, given, they continue to antagonize cambodia with our preah vihear area, etc...

It's understandable that it's closed. Didn't you hear that those PAD protesters in bangcok storm their international's sovannaphoum airport? They're just sick people at the moment. The 13 millions tourists in their country are now just standed and lost as well. You bad they are mad as hell. We just have to wait and see.

Stop criticize people and businesses that you don't know. Even if belong to thais, siem reap airways has the merits to belong to Bangkok airways, a major regional airlines with good management and quality standards.
Look at royal air cambodge that went bankruptcy because of weak management and big corruption. 20 millions usd has been diverted and the khmers staffs just used to sell tickets of half prices to put in their pockets.
The storm at Bangkok Airport is not good also for the cambodian tourism business as a lot of tourists came thru that hub.
Cambodian National Airlines? it can work if the government has the commitment and the able staffs to perform the job. But in this country too much fucking corruption with too much greedy people.
Instead of criticizing thais just look on how our government is managing the country. Homework first.
