WB aids Cambodian poverty reduction

HANOI, Jan. 15 (PNA/VNA) -- The Cambodian government signed two grant agreements on Jan. 14, worth a total of 72.1 million USD with the World Bank and other development partners to improve the lives of its people and to reduce poverty.

The first agreement for 20 million USD supports the Demand for Good Governance Project (DFGG), which aims at improving the government's accountability and responsiveness to the needs of the public, said a press release from the WB.

The second agreement, worth 52.1 million USD, provides additional resources to the Second Health Sector Support Program (HSSP2), which is designed to help the government improve the health of the nation’s underprivileged mothers and children, it added.

The grants will provide crucial support to the Government of Cambodia's efforts to reduce poverty and ensure that the people of Cambodia enjoy secure and sustainable livelihoods, WB said.

"The grant agreements that we sign today will contribute towards the fourth pillar of Cambodia's Rectangular Strategy," Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Keat Chhon was quoted by Xinhua News Agency as saying.

This multi-millions dollar aid package is a big sum for Cambodia. If this assistance distribute wisely, it would be more than enough to reduce and improve the lives of its citizens. Otherwise, it will become an additional to already stack of foreign debts for younger generations responsible.

Put these low-life uneducated officials under the roof of law and let cambodia live in accordance with their basic rights and freedom, and cambodia will be a better place for all people.

the way i see it is the gov.t is too big to satisfy the important figures like hun sen, heng rin, chea sim, sok anh and their associates. they cling from one to others commiting corruption, causing miseries for millions of people to meed their wild and unlawful hunger. they protect each other and pay little/no attention to the rule of law!only law from their mouths! It's one of root causes of corruption practices in
Cambodia.

Make the state like private company which money/profit/prgress is the concern of all stakeholders. Failing to meet all of these, the top responsible will have to resign, but not turning the state like their family cronies's company!

Get lost such people and parties!
Bravo khmers.....
