Hundreds of land mine victims and their relatives have staged a demonstration at the Cambodian community of Thmor Samleang in Kampong Thom province to press for better housing, education, and health services.
The gathering occurred on the eve of National Mine Awareness Day.
A spokesman for Jesuit Service Cambodia - Nobel Laureate Tun Channareth - has told the Phnom Penh Post newspaper that the community lacks even the most basic of services, including clean water.
The newspaper reports that the community was established two months ago after the government donated the land.
However, it was not provided any funding for the development of the site.

All mines buried in Cambodia were made of China and Russia. Now, where are those motherfuckers? From the investigation in 1995, the Chinese made mines used by the Khmer Rouge contain denoting chip which is product of Motorola. And again where is that motherfucker? I just can believe they still can make business in Cambodia. I have no reason why I use Motorola's products.
Up to date I have never seen those motherfuckers releasing a penny to help the poor or victim.
yes, good to hear this. please don't sit and wait, be proactive by making demand from gov't to take care of the disabled people because if you don't take action and become your own advocate, gov't will forget or ignore you all. so, it's good to see this. more power and god bless.
yes, demand for better services and health care for all disabled person in cambodia; ask the international community such as the western community for help to bring attention to gov't in order to better service and provide for all disabled person in cambodia. please don't ignore this case, it's been ignore and pushed aside for too long already. god bless all.
