There are reports that Mr. Mam Sonando, owner of Beehive Radio station, and his assistants were prevented by military commanders from distributing gifts to soldiers guarding Preah Vihear temple and they were asked to leave the temple.
Gen. Srey Doek, commader for the Preah Vihear precinct, told the Cambodia Daily that he did not know that Mr. Mam Sonando brought gifts to distribute to the soldiers, but he said that the soldiers will not accept any gifts that involved in politics. He said: "We will only receive gifts that are honest, but we will not receive any gifts that are not honest."
Mr. Mam Sonando arrived at Preah Vihear temple on Friday (19th) with electricity generator, fuel-operated water pump, electric cables and some consumer goods donated by listeners of Beehive Radio and Khmers living overseas.
Mr. Sonando said that he returned back to Preah Vihear on Saturday and was prevented from travelling up to the temple. At the end he decided to donate all the gifts to a Buddhist temple at Chup Koki village in Ouddor Meanchey province.
Mr. sonando said that he was happy that the soldiers don't need those gifts, so he can divert those gifts to those who needed them.
Note: In 2008, border guard soldiers did accept gifts and foods from Mr. Mam Sonando as has been shown in the above picture.

Yea, a politically motivated act of good-doing is better left for its owners. I saw a video of those guys giving out some food packages and be all like it's the greatest thing that those soldiers ever get. Those political tools give them soldiers small begs of various food supplies and keep asking "how happy are you?" "are you happy that I came here to give you this?"
I felt uneasy just watching those guys give out their tiny ass donation and ask questions as if they have given each soldier a villa.
Maybe, the soldiers will accept your gift normally if you don't give 1 and act like you give 100.
If he( Mam Sonando)donation all stuff to khmer soldiers and don't talk bad about khmer soldiers.Becuase he work for opposition party and always talking bad to our khmer people so no body like his donation.He never got any permit from government first before going there.Cambodia country it is ok to get in the soldiers place. American never let people get in the soldiers place at in any time.

If Gen. Srey Doek applies his impartial stance consistently then it's good, but the fact is that he allows Mr. Hun Sen to use him for political purpose. I'm not for Mam Sonando....the guy has attitude problem.....I'm embarass too of his ego.
The issue is CTN is not neutral either when giving out donations. CTN is CPP's tool.
Sonando doesn't know how to talk-use language, but he has good intention and good heart. this is more important than angel's words like the CPP people but evil hearts deep down- Chet chea tevatot , moat chea tevoda ( communist style).
Wows! The border soldiers must be great and rich. dun accept the gifts! I was about to donate $20000 for them I should switch this money to World Vision.

Guys, the soldiers didn't say that they reject Mam Sonando's gifts. Only Srey Doek, who is a CPP tool, who said it. Srey Doek doesn't want the gifts because he was pressured by the CPP boss not to accept the gifts. Also Srey Doek is too rich already because of his corruption.

have you ever thought that people may want to prevent such distribution because they may see it as political favoritism or something? why not have a neutral gov't agency do this kind of distribution to the needy or other causes? go figure. cambodia still have a long way to go in reform in public services , etc...
a govt. neutral agency? anything to do with govt. (hun sen's govt.) will never be neutral. NGo is yes, but hun sen always thinks that NGO's are not neutral. hun sen thinks that anything that did not favor him will never be neutral.
