The party decided to change its name from NRP to the “Nationalist Party” and it approved Chhim Siek Leng as the new party president. NRP MP Sao Rany from Prey Veng province was nominated as the party secretary-general. Nhiek Bun Chhay, Funcinpec secretary-general, and several other high-ranking Funcinpec officials were also guests at the congress. Pen Sangha indicated that the congress was held to change the party name only, there was no merger with Funcinpec yet, but the two royalist parties are cooperating with each other, as stipulated in the MOU between the two parties on 30 January 2009.

What are the objectives of the royalist parties ?
Understandly politcal party can be formed for objective interests, however it would be sensible to have them merged if there are common objectives.
We all have learned enough that cambodia ought to set path to democracy.it is simply listen to resonable collective demands from citizens.
Royalists and royal members undoubtly have the SAME rights,whether they are in politics or not.
Those should not have any previledge without having adhered to any ETHICS.
Ethical issues will be the main focus if we want to guarrenty the survival of monarchy, otherwise the abuse of previledge and neglect of oblgations once again will create the turmoil to cambodia and cambodians.
Our king father has tried hard for unity and strengthen cambodia,but what has failed is the abuse of power of royalists and royal families. having prestige and abuse should no longer be existed.
For unity and fairness we aim.

Same car, just different drivers. the former NRP and newly formed NP are the same. These two parties will not affect/change political game in cambodia. Their members never stand up to issues and "rubber stamp" the fraudulent results of the national election. So why bother to change name?
