Radio Sambok Khmum has indicated that it will broadcast the commemoration ceremony of the loss of Kampuchea Krom live from France on the 13th of June, reports Radio Free Asia.
Mr. Mam Sonando, director and owner of Radio Sombok Khmum, said that this live broadcast is purely a Khmer issue and he doesn't believe that it will affect the relations between Hanoi and Phnom Penh.
He said: "I am only fufilling my duty. My duty is to broadcast the activities of the Khmer Krom people to in the defence of their freedom, this is the first point. Secondly, I believe that the Khmer krom issue is 100% a Cambodian issue. Thirdly, this is relating to the history of Kampuchea Krom which we need to let all Khmers know clearly about the Khmer Krom issues. Why Kampuchea Krom was put under the Vietnamese control and why do we have the issue of Kampuchea Krom? Why did I say that it is an issue for all Khmers? Because France was the one who ceded the Kampuchea Krom territories to Vietnam, but France never ceded the Khmer Krom people to the Vietnamese rule?"
Mr. Thach Ngoc Thach, president of the Khmer Krom Federation, said that the commemoration ceremony was held as a way to ask the EU to put pressures on Vietnam to respect the human rights of Khmer Krom people and to give self-determination to Khmer Krom people.
He said of the reason why the commemoration service is being held in France: "First, this is important because it is the 60th anniversary of the loss of Kampuchea Krom. Secondly, France is a country that ceded the territory of Kampuchea Krom to Vietnam. We came here because we have a cooperation from the UNPO (Unrepresented Nations and Peoples' Organisation), the cooperation of the Centre for Human Rights of Hawaii and we have invited the representatives of the EU and the UN and a number of international legal experts to attend the ceremony. So, we would like to use this 60th anniversary as an event to launch our protest through legal channels, to make a protest through the 21 committees in order to reverse the Vietnamese colonisation of Kampuchea Krom. Thirdly, we urge the UN Human Right Council in Geneva to take up the issues of human right abuses in Kampuchea Krom. Fourthly, we will push for the issues (above) to be resolved through judicial channels."
Kampuchea Krom is a former Khmer territory consisting of 21 provinces inhabited by about 12 million Khmer Krom people. It was ceded to Vietnam by the French colonial authority on the 4th of June, 1949.

I applaud Mr. Sanando for his noble efforts to help the cause of Khmer Krom people. I hope Hun Sen and his government will wake up to the fact and help to relieve the suffering of the Khmer Krom people.
During Vietnam war, khmer krom are the victims of American and Vietcong, Khmer krom were force to joint the fight, they were in the middle of two wars that time, when US troops came they had killed, rape so many khmer krom people, they called them Vietcong! and Vietcong came they did the same thing! Vietcong accused them for joint US to fight against Vietnam, too many khmer krom people were excuted, and slaughter by American soldiers during Vietnam war...
The thing is PHNOM PENH still denial Khmer Krom people's help! these people were suffering every day by Vietnam authority, their home, their farmlands were taken away by Vietnamese officials, they can't farms or works because their property were given to Vietnamese people! Vietnamese officials even allowing their people to build houses inside khmer Temple, this is how cruel they are....they don't even live there! just build the fucken house and no body living in it!!

Mr. Mam So Nando Euy Mr. Mam Sonondo ( khmer name or Khmer Krom's name?, just give you a little comment, if you want to work on this issue more effective and sucessful, you better conduct commenmoration ceremony in the Khmer Krom land where we think that this is our original khmer land siezed by VN or you can run your radio staion in that place so that Khmer Krom people could recive your information everyday. I am so doubtfull why you guy just go around the circle line, why not come direct to the core point...you afraid? afraid of what if you brave as you say..ask VN govt to give you licence to operate your Radio Station in Khmer krom area..?

Mr. Mam Sonando seems to be flip flop on several issues relating to Cambodian politic including Khmer Krom issue. He maybe suffers from mental illness after he was jailed two times. Several of his comments on radio lately were way off from reality. He makes khmer confuse.

YOUN is so afraid to let its own YOUN people listen to the radio let alone our Khmer-Krom people inside Kampuchea Krom.
YOUN has been and are currently jamming radio signals so the people inside can't receive it. Reason because the YOUN are very afraid of people power. The more info the people get the more knowledgeable they are and they will stand up for their rights. That's why every little thing is tightly controlled by the government. From asking permission to gather at your local temple to throwing a party at your own house.
So when people talk about setting up a radio station is laughable because they don't understand the real situation in YOUN.

Speaking up YOUN, you can identify who they are just by observing their intentions. Are their comments help support Khmer causes or the other way around. When all true Khmer people can identify who the enemy (YOUN) they Khmer people shall survive. We need to know our enemy and who they really are then we need to call them out. When we know and when the whole world know who the true color of the YOUN, they no longer can hide.

It's great that Sanando is broadcasting live about the commemoration ceremony of the loss of Kampuchea Krom. It's time for Hun Sen and his government to do something honorable about our Kampuchea Krom by giving Khmer Krom in Cambodia more rights to celebrate the loss of Kampuchea Krom without hindrances every year or whenever they want.

Thach Ngoc Thach's action should be commended. Peaceful struggle on the international stage is the best option right now. Armed struggle or confrontational action such as staging protests like 1968-69 would be self-destructive and suicidal.
