Thai Web Site Spreads False History: Cambodia

By Kong Sothanarith, VOA Khmer
Original report from Phnom Penh

The Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok formally requested that the Thai government withdraw a video clip from a Web site Monday, claiming the site spread false historical information.

The Web site, www.ilovethailand.org, features a video claiming the Siamese Empire, which predated modern-day Thailand, lost the provinces of Battambang, Siem Reap and Preah Vihear to Cambodia.

In fact, both the Siamese and Khmer empires battled back and forth for control of territory over the centuries.

In its note Monday, the embassy said, “it is the Kingdom of Cambodia which had lost much of its territory from the Khmer empire.”

Thailand and Cambodia are currently engaged in a military standoff over contested border patches, and nationalism on both sides has led to violence in the past.

Thai will not remove video clip from their web site.

As we have seen the situation on PREAH VIHEAR, Thai has never withdrew their Soldiers out of it for more than one year now.

So how can Cambodian do to prevente all these problems, if Khmer Gov. have been unable to resolve all these problems.

Come on Khmer you cannot wait. You need to find another LEADER to resolve problems.

hey, i hate to say this but a change is leader is not necessarily solve all cambodia's problems. we need to look for a better way to do business by learning , adopt new ideas, new concepts, make our country modern, especially in infrastructure like highway, roadways, airports, etc... plus, we all need to unite and work together in order to strengthen our identity because two heads is better than one, you know. i think if the siem can do it, we can do as well. be oneness and open our country up for business to compete against the siem thieves because, really, that's how siem got smart, they opened up their country and send their leaders to study in europe, america, and so on. cambodia can do the same by invest smartly in our people to bring back to cambodia new and better ways or ideas, etc... god bless cambodia.

Should not ask Thai website to withdraw the video clip. What we have to do is ask Youtube to withdraw it. By this action it means that the video clip will automatically remove from the Thai website.

Let be fair. Every country writes their own history. And you learn what they want you to know. So don't be serious. This video has shown just a part of history.
Now is true. Tomorrow is comming. Don't get stuck with the past.

That Thai website is the Thai PM Ahbishit website that spread the false info.
I'm glad that Ahbishit removed it from his website after the Cambodia put pressure on it at least Ahbishit was born in UK know that was wrong.
