The 2009 Vietnam Trade Fair, the second of its kind, opened at the Mondial National Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh on September 2.

Attending the opening ceremony, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Cham Prasit described the event as a great effort of the Vietnamese Government to boost trade ties between the two countries to raise two-way trade to US$2 billion in 2010.

Deputy PM Cham Prasit said that through trade fairs, trade turnover between the two countries has consistently increased in recent years from US$935 million in 2006 to almost US$1.7 billion in 2008.

As many as 125 Vietnamese businesses are displaying their wares, including industrial products, commodities, foodstuff, cosmetics and garments.

During the fair, seminars will be held to discuss on business and investment opportunities between enterprises of the two countries.

The fair will run through September 6.

It makes least sense to cooperate with ill-purposed partner commercially and politically. The connection will give the crooked upper hand over and threaten Khmers and their independence and existence. Try to be the least cooperative like Gandhi and his followers did to England.KhOpen,

Vietnam reaps a tremendous amount of benefit from this whole Cambodia-Thailand dispute. Vietnam benefits economically at the cost of Cambodia and Thailand acting like a bunch of stupid little kids. Thailand is seen as politically and socially unstable with its problematic Muslim insurgency in the southern provinces, mass protests, and border disputes with Cambodia. Cambodia's infrastructure is still in less than average conditions, laws are barely enforced in so many different sectors and corruption is extreme in all levels of government. On the other hand, businesses and tourism will move to Vietnam. In 10 years, Vietnam will surpass Thailand in GDP and will become Southeast Asia's economic powerhouse. It's destined.
