Abhisit asks Chavalit, don't do it again

26/10/2009
Bangkok Post

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Monday asked Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyudh not to cause any more problems the way he did to Thai relations with Cambodia.

Mr Abhisit said said Gen Chavalit, the Puea Thai Party chairman, was free to visit any other neighbouring countries apart from Cambodia, since he is a former prime minister.

However, he should do so only in the interests of the country, not in the interests of any individuals, he said.

The prime minister said Gen Chavalit should not cause any more problems. He had been the cause of the latest row between Thailand and Cambodia over Thaksin.

Mr Abhisit said that the problem caused by an interview given by Prime Minister Hun Sen was not serious enough for Thailand to sever ties with Cambodia, and Mr Hun Sen's stance did not have any adverse effects on the Asean summit.

Asked whether Thailand would ask Cambodia to extradite Thaksin, Mr Abhisit said it was still uncertain whether the fugitive former prime minister would really stay in that country.

That country?! Khmer is way than Thai. We built our culture; we built our temples, we built our civilization. Not like Thai, want the temple, invade Khmer. Do not call us that country, we are Khmer!

After the statement from Cambodia Justice & Foreign Dept regarding the reservation and invalidity of the extradiction, Thai P.M. doesn't raise this issue anymore!
To P.M. Hun Sen: It would be a positive sign to you and to your party as long as you bring justice to society especially vis a vis Vietnam and release your grip a bit toward the opposition in order to create equal justice for all and your code will certainly goes up inside and outside of Cambodia otherwise like Puth Tomneay said: Chinese Li Kompi sveng rok neak mean bonn!

I just wish that next election you will let the opposition lead the country to unwind any unfavorable deal with our giant neighbor Vietnam and once it's clear you can take back the rein so that all of us will leave in harmony together.

Cambodia is sovereign nation and she must stay free from the Thai or Viet bullshits. We fight back not because we want to but we have to... We are too small of a country to start trouble... but if troubles linger, we must solve it.
