Policy Alone Inadequate: Youth Advocate

"Many young people today are jobless, even though they have a higher education. I wonder if they can get jobs without having to pay bribes.”
Facing a rising number of young people who are graduating school, looking for work and entering society in general, the government is drafting an official national youth policy. But advocates from the growing demographic say a policy alone is not enough.

“If we have only the document, but no institution to implement it, it will be useless,” Sun Chansen, president of the Khmer Youth Association, told “Hello VOA” Monday.

Sun Chansen, whose association represents six non-governmental organizations that work with young people, said a national youth council must be created to enforce the policy.

A draft of the 10-point policy was opened for final input from organizations late in April, and the final draft is expected to be brought to the Council of Ministers by the end of the year.

The policy broadly sets out rights and responsibilities for Cambodia’s young people, including economic activities.

A caller to “Hello VOA” on Monday, who gave his name as Kongkea, from Takeo province, said the policy won’t work unless the government addresses unemployment.

“Many young people today are jobless, even though they have a higher education,” he said. “I wonder if they can get jobs without having to pay bribes.”

But Sun Chansen said a body to implement the policy must be set up before questions like unemployment can be addressed.

That's how it is when you are living under an uneducated leader.

It's about time for your educated guys to rise up in fight against the corrupt regime. Don't ever let the ruling elite determine your fate.
Do something about it instead of just complaining.

Before you take any action against govt. First, make sure that you have a well plan of action. Second, how much are you willing to pay for your action in exchange to get job and fair treatment from the govt. Just look at the Thai red-shirt-what price they have to pay (almost 30 people die). And I can asure you that any action against the current Cambodian govt-the price could be higher (the govt. will use all mean to maintain power).

Good luck to all of you who are willing to speak against the oppression regime...

Turn to Engineering schools, you stand a better chance to find a job. If it's too late for you, I urge you to encourage your younger brothers/sisters to embrace engineering fields.

Who are high ranking officials at the Council of ministers? Most of them are from France and relatives of SOK AN´s wife. I can tell you their names and backgrounds.

Action speaks louder than word. Every Cambodian citizen deserves a right to raise their voice against the unjust ruling elite.
Nothing ventures,nothing gains
Take actions now before it is too late.

In Aust, PM usually creates variety of jobs to meet people's need, like after their training is done. They have what we called the "gov't's job" which is funded by the gov't itself, e.g health (doctors and nurses), roads (engineering-workers), housings (QBSA-queensland building Service Authority-supporting qualified builders and expanding its housing needs), Police Department for training and job networking (police force or Arm force) etc. Without gov't's employment's structures, the whole country will be in chaos. So, Hun Sen's gov't needs to be more focused on creating jobs for the best interest of our nation and our country. I would like to be part of this developmental process, if only you open up to this idea. Aust

It's a wake up call to all Khmer, we have an abundance intelligent and resources but never put in to good use any attempt is marred by corruptions and nepotism.
For the survival of the Khmer future vote with your head and do not be discouraged by threads and money. Money is short tern gain but at the expenses of the institution in which we live in. Rise up and be creative for the better of the nation.

Uhmmmmmm!

Why are there so many young Cambodian graduate jobless? There are many factors!

First Cambodian job market is so fuck up that it can't absorb no more workers!

Second Cambodian students have the wrong education which is not in demand by the job market!

Third Cambodian students study only the easy subjects just to get their so called degree and even with degree and they can't do shit in the real world! ahhahahhaha

Fourth these Cambodian students are trained to be a worker and a follower not entrepreneur! Otherwise these Cambodian students will create their own job and start a business instead of waiting for Hun Sen government!

Fifth Cambodia as country is sucked, the environment and society is sucked, the leaders is sucked, and this is the byproduct! Just suck it up for the time being until there is a regime change!

The good thing about education is that it make people think harder and allow us to think and seek justice. As a country we can not continue to run it that way because we will be bankrupt and we are moving towards that way very soon.
Vote with you conscience on for pocket, the truth will previal in the end.
