The Three Thais arrested after crossing the border while forasging in the forest and now detained in Siem Reap will be released on Thursday, Surin Governor Raphee Phongbuphakit said.

The governor said he would leave for Siem Reap at 10am to pick up the three and he expected to return late in the afternoon.

It was not clear through which border pass Mr Raphee would travel to Siem Reap, or whether relatives of the three and reporters would be allowed to go along.

Cambodian officials received approval from Prime Minister Hun Sen to free the three - Sanong Wongcharen, Lim Puangpet and Lan Sapsri - who were arrested last week in O'Samach in Oddar Meanchey province opposite Surin, for entering Cambodia illegally while foraging for food.
