"We neither have any intention to threaten nor intrude militarily into Cambodian territory as earlier claimed by Cambodian authorities" - Chavanond Intarakomalyasut, another Thai tongue-twisterBANGKOK, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- An aide to the Thai Foreign Minister on Friday asserted that the Thai-Cambodian territorial dispute can be resolved through bilateral mechanisms, without third party intervention, Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.
Chavanond Intarakomalyasut made the statement after Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday announced that he would ask United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to mediate with Thailand over the 4.6 sq km area adjacent to the ancient Preah Vihear temple, which is claimed by both countries.
The secretary to the foreign minister confirmed that bilateral discussions on the disputed area are already in progress.
Currently, Thai officials are awaiting a joint parliamentary meeting to approve three documents agreed by Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), according to TNA.
After the approval, he said, the officials will schedule the next JBC meeting. Its primary agenda item is setting up the sixth working group on a joint land survey for border demarcation.
"Thailand will settle the border row with the neighbouring country through talks," TNA quoted Chavanond as saying.
"We neither have any intention to threaten nor intrude militarily into Cambodian territory as earlier claimed by Cambodian authorities."
The foreign minister's secretary said the Thai-Cambodian dispute is a bilateral problem.
In the General Assembly meeting in New York in September, Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will clarify the issue to the UN Secretary-General for an improved understanding before Ban's official visit to Cambodia from Oct 27-28.

Later in 1907,Thailand have asked French make border mapping.So One of them draw a map of France took his temple. Which is in the possession of Thailand To the Cambodian side of the border with France. The line does not hold a watershed basis. This map later called "integrated map 1" (Annex I map).
I love the current government of Cambodia. But I don't love some policemen in Cambodia they use the wrong ways to treat the innocent people in streets.
Cambodia Govts must not talk with Thailand without third party mediation, otherwise its wasting time beause Thailand never take thing seriously...Thailand will flip flop again and again! Cambodia must have third party mediate at the meeting for witness, this way to keep Thailand from play games flip flop!

Hun have to talk to the third party never talk to thailand. HUn kwack sen, should talk to UN as soon as possible. let say, if hun go to UN first before thai go.

Hun Sen is flip flop too.He never set his policy straigh.He is not work for the Cambodian interest because he alway share with his boss.I guess he will be back to bilateral talk again and Thai will use this talk for the benefit of affishit in the next election.
siem's weakness is the world body. keep pushing for the UN international law, cambodia. stop playing siem childish game; is hasn't work for two years now, and we saw siem's true character. they kept using the mysterious map that's not recognized internationally to claim lands from cambodia that's not theirs! they afraid of dealing with the international body because they know they cannot play their childish game with the world. use the world as our witness; everybody i the world will be witnessing siem's violation of the international law and everything they want to sign with cambodia. this way they can't flip flop as there will be the international witnesses.
The Khmer/Thai border issue has been dragging for over two years now with unsuccessful solution, it's a waste for everyone' s times and effort. I strongly recommended the Cambodian Govt seeking helps from multilateral solution as soon as possible. Stop wasting times with the unreliable Thailand.
