Another cycle of GENTLE REMINDERS:
We are about to start our 6th page. Click on to see the new members of Kramanation spotted around the world. Rumors are spreading that within the year we may see George Clooney donning the krama. Let us wait and see…
Please send in your personal remembrances. See new ones, deeply, eloquently remembered…
A forum of education, for memorializing (think Berlin with all its memorials/information center combined into one), for recording personal testimonies (think Shoah Foundation), virtual library, traditional library and resource hub – all connected via information communication technology (thanks to the Vietnamese military who are almost finished laying the telecommunications infrastructure for all the villages of Cambodia – isn't this high TREASON in another country besides here, what Shinawatra was ousted for (and that, for only selling a fraction, minority shares of his telecommunications company to a foreign country)?? Currently, memorializing/education is concentrated in Phnom Penh but 85% of Cambodians live outside of the capital.
We need national leadership on this matter. First, detract the contract with the foreign private company owning Choeung Ek Killing Fields; this is a slap in the face of victims. SACRELIGIOUS !! Second, preserve as many of the skulls and bones and mass graves as possible as sites of memory, which could be the same as the sites for the Provincial Learning Centers.

The beautiful Sophea Omnou of Great Britain pays tribute to her parents and 7 siblings killed by the Khmer Rouge.

The skulls at Wat Beoung Rai in one of 2 unprotected "cheddai". Among the 30,000 skulls including that of my mom, these are the only ones remaining: over the years, the villagers have been taking the skulls at liberty to grind them into traditional medicine. The bones are still in the mass graves in and around the pagoda and the nearby prison (above photo). On this visit with a great friend of Cambodia at the EU-Brussels and painter Danielle Dal Molin (4 Sept. 2010), I noticed that an "excellency" has spent @ US$3,000 to reconstruct this gaudy shiny "cheddai" with his name boldly, decidedly inscribed into this very public cheddai... This is the problem when memorializing is left into private hands with no community involvement and no national leadership at preservation.

This is stupid campaign. All Khmer love Krama. No need such campaign. what she wants to do exactly?
I can't wait to see George Clooney wearing a krama!!
4:26 PM - what a bunch of sourgrapes you are. is it because you didn't think of this campaign first? or even if you didn't, you wouldn't know how to carry it off? Life must be so dreary and dark for you to always be in this negative morose mood. maybe time to buy yourself a nice colorful cheerful krama and join the campaign. You may be the campaign best emissary yet.
Oh by the way, Cambodia is the only Asian country to have used Krama so I think we are very unique people culture. We all should cherish that as a national symbol. It is very Cambodian.
Krama!...hah ha.
I love it very much, I wear Krama daily after work at home. Most Cambodian in my village always respect me and given name as 'Krama Man', this because I wear Krama and I look very handsome man, I have a good body, budybuilt. Krama is a Khmer idinity. Cambodian men should use Krama at any time they want, this is our culture. Cambodian men must use Krama and women should use Sarong. Do not use Chinese, Vietnamese clothes (Pajamas, set clothes), I hate it.
Ankorian Krama Man
yes! wear it yourself , fools! I stay with pans and shirt!
Ankorian Krama Man! but people say you so uegly!
Indeed Ms. Seng Theary, in other country, relenting to complete foreign control over domestics communication network IS TREASON! A very DANGEROUS ONE at that.
Yet here in Cambodia, our great revered Hero has allow our telecommunication not only be run by foreign, but most importantly by a foreign MILITARY organization!
Jey Yo Somdach Akkak Moha Sena Hun Sen!
Jey Yo Development!
Je yo Treachery and Treason!
Jey Yo servitude and dependency to Youn military!
Thank you Somdach Si Aiko!
To 12:44 AM
Well, it's almost 3:00 AM in the morning here in Cambodia. Yes!..you go ahead Viet nor Chinese to get yourself Vietnamese and Chinese clothes. You are not Khmer, if so you should take consideration of our Khmer cultures which is very unique of Krama Khmer product. 'Krama' and 'Sarong' Khmer are very nice and good for Cambodian people to wear at home daily and any occassions. Pant and shirt what you like is not thing wrong, but I suggest you should use/wear Krama is better then Pant. Do you understand Khmer man?
Krama Man
Krama Man,
Krama when comparison to uses for the bottom half is only good for used as bathing towel. Pants are better.
You should not walk around wearing Krama, maybe Sarong.
Well,it's 3:00 am now almost the time off to go home and wrap my Krama. Of course not to wear around to shop at the market, but in our country most men wear it at home all time and almost every where. It's very confortable, there 's not thing wrong to wear Krama at home and any where. To bad now in our country seem to change the Khmer ethinict, Khmer cultures. If you are Khmer, you should love Krama Khmer and use Krama as to what I have said in this forum. We all Khmer we should use Krama NOT Chinese or Vietnamese style. I hate to see some of Cambodian dress like Chinese or Vietanmese, it looks SHIT to me.
Krama Man
Krama Man,
Please send a photo of you in your krama to Theary Seng to post. I will be very proud of you!
Wear that Krama wisely like Prom Manh said, Don't hang yourself with it. LOL. My mom and dad make a hammock out of it for me in Cambodia when I was a baby due to poor leadership by Samdach Ta or Ov.
Khmer Poi Paet live in US.
Don't wear out "grama" for she is old and feeble.
