SHANGHAI, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) - China and Cambodia pledged to further cooperation and bilateral ties as top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni in Shanghai Saturday.
"China attaches importance to relations with Cambodia and hopes to deepen and advance the mutually beneficial cooperation to lift bilateral ties," Wu told Sihamoni.
Wu, chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said China cherished the special friendship with the Cambodian Royal Family.
The friendship nurtured by Chinese leaders and former Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk had weathered the changing international landscape, said Wu.
Bilateral relations had seen frequent high-level visits, increased political mutual trust, and mutually beneficial trade cooperation and support on international and regional issues, said Wu.
Wu also thanked the king for his support to the Shanghai World Expo and presence at the celebrations of China's National Pavilion Day at the Shanghai World Expo Friday.
Sihamoni said the progress in bilateral relations was in the line with the two peoples' aspirations and the Cambodian Royal Family was committed to boosting bilateral cooperation.

Relationship with China is an insurance to help guarantee the presence and existence of Cambodia between the crocodile to the east and the tiger to the west.
There are not many ways by which Cambodia can guarantee her survival amid so much division among its leaders and people.

Does this King ever have any sympathy for his own people ? People who got kicked out of the house by the rich and the powerful people have been crying for help everyday but I never hear anything from the King . A King is just like parents and parents always keep and eye on the children make sure they dont kill each other for food or toys but this King , you won't hear anything from him .

I wasn't able to forgive China primarily because of her involvement with the khmer rouge until the bitter end knowing full well that KR was in the process of killing their own people.China did not care about khmer in general.Some day in the next 60 or 70 years from now,Cambodia will become part of Vietnam because of so many Vietnamese people( millions) were settled inside Cambodia ,and they are multiplying very rapidly.Until then China will be a sorry ass.Too much money were invested and went down the drain.

Contrary Vietnamese in Cambodia, go to Cambodian school, speaking, reading and writing well our Khmer language. Maybe oversea's Khmer have to learn to speak Viet, because most of them can't speak or write our Khmer language.
The Chinese cherish the Cambodian royal family so much so, because they can use this sacred family to shield the crimes they had committed in Cambodia between 1975- 1979. What can you do when you're so helpless? ( even when you're King ).
