Living in the Khmer territory watching its border, where gifts arrive from other nations,
due to the loss of all the children who once provided delicious food.
I am a protective spirit (neakta) who helps safeguard the Khmer land.
But some children abandon their family homes, leaving the land where they used to live happily.
The Khmer food and language I once enjoyed are now diminishing.
As a neakta, I become so concerned, seeing thieves from nearby and afar offering gifts.
Forgive me all Khmers, for crossing the border for gifts
For I need to live till the morrow, and avoid poverty.

Surprise surprise, corruption is everywhere even with superficial world. But how this will last, because when disaster strike like current flooding, and villagers would be out of foods, the Neak Ta will suffer even more.

There are a few comments like that and writing in Khmer.
The person post this piece of writing everywhere as not even relevant to the subject discussion.
This worker wrote such material then copy and paste to just do the job.
The argument being presented are out of context.
First of all, we need to fix the English translation. I mean the first translation is good, but it can be revised in order to be closer or to match the original meanings of words or phrases of the original Khmer poem.
Title should be translated as Border Guardian Spirit.
Stanza 1:
Living in the Khmer land at the border.....[but] getting the food offerings from foreigners.
Getting separated from all children.....who used to make scrumptious food offerings.
Stanza 2:
As a Guardian Spirit I still safeguard......the Khmer land to stay intact.
But some children abandon their land inheritance....leaving behind the [ancestral] land that they used to enjoy.
Stanza 3:
Before there were Khmer food and language......But now those things are disappearingly gone.
I am the Guardian Spirit who is deeply worried.....seeing land-grabbing thieves near and far come to make food offerings.
Stanza 4:
Oh Khmer people I beg for your forgiveness....please come cross the border to make food offerings to me.
Because I want to live longer....avoiding any more poverty.
I think that should do it. This new version of translation will at least come close to the orginal meanings of the wording of the Poem Border Guardian Spirit
