Good ideas can inspire action

"A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history." - Mahatma Ghandi
Some people seem to be able to recall a million facts and bits of data. The harder job of intellect is to do something with those bits. Imagine, wonder, inquire, interpret, compare, relate, analyze, assess, calculate.

The bits of data are information, not knowledge. Learning is limitless, but learning can also require "unlearning."

Importance of thought

People naturally engage in patterned behavior and reproductive thought with little energy or effort.

Patterned behavior and reproductive thought imprison men in a vicious circle: To do the same thing over and over, with a predictable outcome.

Breaking away means entering a new mode of behavior and productive thinking: Do what has not been done before; think critically with the goal to understand, relate, determine alternatives and select the best option; and think creatively through imagining and generating new ideas, improving on them and generating still newer ideas, until a "breakthrough change" occurs.

In reproductive thinking, the intellect is asleep. In productive thinking, the intellect is alive and active.

The great thing about the human brain is it can be taught to think better. Some would say that in today's world, what we know is less important than how we think.

Power of thinking

Positive thinking helps render life better in the family, at work, in the community and in the world. A positive mind makes us strong spiritually and physically, opens doors to new things and different views, and provides opportunities where a negative mind sees only difficulties.

The Dec. 5, 2008, British Medical Journal reported a study that showed happiness is contagious -- more contagious than unhappiness. Your own actions, behaviors and thoughts can make you happy, but your chances to be happy are increased by 15 percent through connections to happy people!

Recall the saying, "Live with cow, sleep like cow; live with parrot, fly like parrot."

The world can be a stressful place. International economic conditions have brought hardship to many. Though we live longer, eat better and have more material things, many people are basically unhappy. A positive attitude, backed by better thinking and imagination, can help us deal with life's problems, which can be solved, and deal with life's predicaments, which can be coped with.

Those who respond to a difficult challenge with an offhand comment -- "pigs can't fly" or "a hyena does not give birth to a lion" -- do not inspire fighting dictatorships. Think instead of Nelson Mandela's determination not to be broken when he was in jail: "I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul"; and a 13th century England warrior, whose motto was: "Rise and rise again until lambs become lions."

Words on a poster in my college dorm room more than 40 years ago read: "You can blindfold me, you can gag me, you can close my ears, you can chain my hands, but you cannot prevent me from thinking." That's positive, better thinking!

The 'Monkey Master'

The 14th-century Chinese fable, the "Monkey Master," cited in Dr. Gene Sharp's "From Dictatorship to Democracy: A Conceptual Framework for Liberation," is worth retelling.

An old man used monkeys to pick fruit from the mountains. One-tenth of each monkey's harvest had to be given to the old man, or the monkey would face a hard flogging. The monkeys dared not protest.

One day, a small monkey got other monkeys to talk. All monkeys agreed -- the old man didn't plant the fruit trees, hence, the fruits didn't belong to him. The monkeys could take the fruits for themselves; there was no reason why monkeys must serve the old man!

So the monkeys tore down and destroyed their place of confinement, took all the fruits in the old man's storage, took off for the woods and never returned. The old man died of starvation.

The moral of the story: When monkeys were enlightened and awakened to the nature of the old man's injustice and ruthlessness, the old man's rule ended. Likewise, a people enlightened and awakened can end dictators' rule.

Power of ideas

Just as a rock thrown into a pond of still water produces a ripple that expands into larger and larger circles, a good idea, however small, can inspire people, who will inspire still others, into action. The first rock and the first person can make a difference.

Recall Newton's first law of motion: "An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion, with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force."

Great painter Vincent van Gogh said, "Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together."

When asked how she determined where to begin to help others as there's so much need and injustice in the world, Mother Theresa replied: "Do the thing in front of you."

So, do it now. This is the moment you have, your moment. Don't lament missed opportunities; tomorrow is yet to come.

Robert F. Kennedy explained how human history is shaped: "Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope." India's Mahatma Gandhi, pronounced: "A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history."

Then, you say, "Yes, we can!"

To all the Khmer loving country people!!!

We need a sniper shooting at our father’s forehead..... That is the only way to get rid of him.

He thinks he owns Cambodia. We are his kids are so embarrassed when he talks like a barbarian or like a singing monkey on a tree.

Our mother is also making us ashamed of her skin bleaching, awkward jewelries wearing and flirting around...(my mother bun runny is seeing this hot looking 18 years old man behind my father's back - my father did not khow)

Please help us to get rid of them; we don’t want to be the Viet slaves.

HUN MANET, HUN MANA AND OUR SIBLINGS.

"Robert F. Kennedy explained how human history is shaped: "Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope."...

I just want to add to this quote a tiny bit, but I believe it worth to do so for the betterment of human society...women are make up more than half of the world population - but their action seem to be less acknowledge in the changing the course of history...

thus in this case, one should add women into thie quote to Robert F. Kennedy "Each time a man and a WOMEN stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, s/he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope."...

Thus to all Khmer mothers and sisters...your sacrify to "improve the lot of others," whether just cook food for your children, help neighbor, or participate in the protest against the unjust regime...your are the ownership of the ripple effect...never under estimate of your ability to make a possitive change for your motherland.

I call upon Khmer's daughters...you are the rightful owner of your future...make noise and start voice out the unjust, oppress, violate human rights and silance the hopelss people in your motherland - let them heard your voice and know that your are the owner of the voice of democracy...your weapon is your vote. Non-violence which it reach the critical mass just like the Makong river during the rainy season - nothing could stand on her way. Each and everyone of you, realize that you're part of the critical mass - in 1013 vote with your own believe and vote for your children's future so that they don't have to live the life like you are living now...

Power to Khmer's daugthers..

Half of the Money go to My father and mother (hun sen and bun runy) ..

And the rest go to his cronies... do not believe it spend on the poor Khmer people. I, hun Manet, a West Educator, see many unjust in Cambodia. Our family have so much money we don't even know what to do with it. My father become mentally ill and my mother is being paranoid and we are not as good as you think we do.

Power destroy family, country, and corrupt the world peace.

Father was a poor man never had such money before and does my mother. They are so greed and want to get rid of all the Khmer in that country. They want to own that country by themselves which is not going happen.

My father visited Vietnam Hanoi ... making us look like we can only live better under Hanoi's control. We have no such freedom and peace. Peace for us right now only TEMPORARY only.

Nothing is permanent in our family.

Signed...Hun Manet & Hun Mana...PP

Khmer have to believe in the power of their vote. The power of vote can event silence the many tanks that just bought by the Hun Sen regime.

The garment union leaders, the teachers union leaders - I have seen your action taken in Cambodia. You're should be comment that your leadership quality of get thousands of people to come together to support the comment goals should be recognize. Thus, in 2013 - show your true power...that your dermine to put an unjust regime out from controlling Cambodia - I believe that you have the power to do it!

Union leaders and teachers union leaders, don't under estimate your power to change the history of Cambodia...I had to quote from Dr. Peng-Meth that the seed of true democracy that you are cultivating right now - your children and grandchildren will enjoy the fruite of Democracy....

May the power of democracy shine upon each and everyone of Khmer people...sar touk..

Can any one tell us how many Vietnameses illegal immigrants voted for Hun Sen's CPP.....?

Can we win...Beside Union leaders and teachers + CPP buy votes and others illegal Vietnamese immigrants....?

7:04 and 7:21 - statistically - there is no real statistic exist, because there is no identification during the election to say who is Khmer, Muslim, Vietname, Chinese, etc...thus, most of the number that fload around...rather just word by mouth and guestemation...

The most important thing that I want to say is - it is not impossible that for Khmer to vote Hun Sen regime out - but hard work must be put into it. First of all, almost all provential leaders are belong to CPP (but that do not mean that they are not Khmer); second, we need a foot soliders (just regular people willing to walk from door to door's and tell them honestly about their vote...and what does it mean directly to their life and their future); No gift giving during the Campaign..to seperate the independent moverment for Khmer from the rest of vote buying leaders.

Of course, there are hard core group that we are facing, and we know that the road is difficult, but we have to believe that it is not impossible to do it...careful plan needed to be put into initial planning.

Take care one Khmer at a time to believe that s/he has the power to change, if each and every Khmers are doing this, than the rest of Khmer people will take care themselves in believing that the power they have is in their hands. We have to believe that the total sum is greater that the indivitual part...but critical mass must be reach to bring change!!!
