BANGKOK, Sept 17 (MCOT online news) -- Thai Defence Minister Gen Yuthasak Sasiprapa on Saturday said the disputed 4.6 sq km area adjoining the ancient Preah Vihear Temple belongs to Thailand, adding that Thailand had sovereignty over the area.
He said that Thai troop had worked in the area continously, and that the country had never withdrawn soldiers from the area.
Gen Yuthasak said the status of 4.6 sq km was in accordance with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra clarification made on her Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Ms Yingluck posted messages on the social network and microblogging service that the disputed 4.6 sq km near Preah Vihear Temple belongs to Thailand.
However, she said, Cambodia also claimed the area, so it was considered a disputed area and the government was willing to solve the dispute over the area through diplomatic means in accordance with evidence and under international law, because the government had a responsibility to protect territory and maintain good relations with its neighbouring country.
Gen Yuthasak said if there was any conflict or misunderstanding between the two countries, the talks could be a good way to find solution.
Meanwhile, Army Spokesman Colonel Thanathip Sawangsaeng said during Sept 23-24, Gen Yuthasak would pay an official visit to Cambodia at the invitation of his counterpart Gen Tea Bahn, who is also deputy prime minister.
Both sides could take the opportunity to end misunderstandings of the past and would discuss preparations for the upcoming General Border Committee (GBC).

Cambodia must fight on even if it means we have a sour relationship with Thailand again. Cambodia must stop Thai invasion on our land... Enough is enough. Thailand does not mean it is theirs. They have been doing all their history not to mention Vietnam too. We must let the world/UN knows about the past, not just the present.
If Yingluck says so I wil fuck her. I am not kidding.
Hun Sen suck Thaksin dick
They can talk all they want ,the case is at the International court now.
