Theary Seng criticises KRT as ‘political farce’

PROMINENT activist Theary Seng plans to withdraw her civil-party status in the war crimes tribunal’s second case, and her appeals for status in cases 003 and 004, next week. 

In a press release yesterday, she declared the United Nations-backed tribunal to be a “political farce”. “Ms Seng no longer wishes to have any legal association with this ECCC,” a statement from the Association of Khmer Rouge Victims in Cambodia, of which Theary Seng is president, said. “She cannot do otherwise but to withdraw her status as civil party in Case 002 as well as the appeal of her civil-party application in cases 003 and 004.”  

Theary Seng’s actions sparked controversy earlier this year after she released statements revealing details about cases 003 and 004.
