A rheumatism specialist will head to Cambodia next week to treat Thai Patriot Network leader Veera Somkwamkid, Foreign Ministry spokesman Thani Thongphakdi said yesterday.
Thani said the ministry had asked the doctor from Rajvithi Hospital to visit Veera in Phnom Penh's Prey Sar prison.
The Cambodian government jailed Veera and Ratree Pipattanapaiboon for espionage last year.
Foreign Minister Surapong Towichukchaikul said that though he had not been given Veera's latest medical report, he had heard that the man's hands were swollen and probably painful. Also, medication available in Cambodia is different from what is prescribed in Thailand.
Surapong said that even though he was going to meet his Cambodian counterpart Hor Nam Hong to discuss other issues, he would try to discuss the possibility of bringing Veera back to Thailand.
As for the Thai Cambodia border conflict, Surapong said Defence Minister General Yuthasak Sasiprapha would be visiting Cambodia on December 21, when the General Border Committee is scheduled to meet.
In a related development, Surapong said Thailand had filed its statement with the International Criminal Court in the Hague, Netherlands, and that Cambodia was expected to file its statement by March. The case should be considered in June.

Hun Sen allow his starving countrymen to die like rats and returned home as ashes despite the families plea to see the body. But the Siem government enjoys special treatment from Hun Sen 32 years ruling.
Khmer king doesn't care about Khmer people. Why should we care about khmer king any more?? A country can be prospered without king. How much money does the government allot for the king families? If we use that money to feed khmer poor it would be far more better for the country.
Oh btw, i heard he will invite his adopt parent from vietname to visit Cambodia next week?
