A majority of the Buddhist monks living at a pagoda in Kandal’s Muk Kampoul district were pressured into abandoning their monkhood yesterday out of fear they would be arrested and defrocked by local authorities.
Thirteen of the 22 monks who live at Keo Monyvoan pagoda walked away from monasticism after authorities allegedly threatened to arrest the monks if they did not leave the pagoda, in similar fashion to the former chief of the pagoda, who was arrested and has not been seen since November.
Lann Vanthorn, a monk at the pagoda, said yesterday that authorities threatened the monks with guns.
“The monks in this pagoda are afraid for their safety,” he said.
Former Sambour Meas commune chief Nuon Sophut, who was fired for supporting the former chief monk, said she had lost all confidence in the local authorities.
“[Villagers and I] suggest the monks stay in the pagoda and we will protect them,” she said.

Khmer people must keep a close eye on this movement. It seems that the Yuon is trying to demolish Khmer morality and religious influence in our country. If the government does nothing about this, that means it is totally controlled by Yuon.

We,Khmer people, should know that Without Khmer Rouges like Pol Pot, Ieng Sari, Khiev Saphan, Noun Chea (who had done the big mistakes and wrong, but they admitted that they had said that they had done something wrong and told the truth in ECCC about Yuon/Viet) including other Khmer Rouges Compatriots who care about Khmer National because they repeatedly heard about the trick of Yuon/Viet playing too many games and tricks to encroach the land of Khmer to overcome and satisfy Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh goals as their plans. So far, Viet/Yuon master-minded evil leaders have not achieved their goals so far until today, but they still keep trying and keep trying to play the trick. Now, Khmer people, you see that Hun Sen is the one that Yuon/Viet Communist Master-Minded evil masters are using him (Hun Sen, their dog) until today. SEE???

those monks are between 16 to 25 year olds. living in temple without paying rent, with free foods, take a nap after heavy lunch, why have to work hard anyway?
