Nuon Chea Says Court Evidence ‘Not Correct’

“Meanwhile, it is necessary to listen to audio recordings of the interview with me to make sure whether these were my words or not.”
Jailed Khmer Rouge leader Nuon Chea on Thursday rejected documentation evidence against him put forward by prosecution and civil party lawyers at the UN-backed tribunal, calling it “not clear” and “not correct.

Nuon Chea, the regime’s chief ideologue, has so far been the only one of three leaders on trial for atrocity crimes to repeatedly address the court in his defense. That defense has been in part to question the authenticity of documentation.

Prosecutors this week have sought to establish the Khmer Rouge’s formal leadership structure, with three leaders charged with atrocity crimes with joint criminal intent.

“All descriptions related to military command, the steering committee, quoted from certain individuals, are not correct,” Nuon Chea told the court Thursday. “Meanwhile, it is necessary to listen to audio recordings of the interview with me to make sure whether these were my words or not.”

Defense for former foreign minister Ieng Sary and former head of state Khieu Samphan objected to the use of documentation evidence and requested its authentication.

Ieng Sary defense attorney Kong Sam On said evidence provided by the Documentation Center of Cambodia was only partial and meant to cast an accusatory light on the defendant.

In his 15-minute statement to the court Thursday, Nuon Chea accused the office of investigating judges of bias, and he requested witnesses be brought forward for his defense.

He also asked why there have been no discussions at the court of the US bombing of Cambodia prior to the rise of the Khmer Rouge, as well as the “ill intentions” of neighboring countries he said were “related” to the regime’s ascendance.

Why so many Khmer people followed Yuon/Vietnamese masters footsteps. It is sad to see Khmer people have been believing in Vietnamese masters from Hanoi and master-mimded Ho Chi Minh who are the really Killers beyond the Khmer Rouges led by Pol Pot.

Pol Pol and his inner circles fought again Viet/Hanoi, Viet Minh forces and Khmer Viet Minh soliders (Hen Samrin, Chea sim, Hun Sen, and others) to protect the Viet/Hanoi/Ho illegal encroachment of Khmer territory, island, sea, and to get Khmer Krom back.

It is unbelievable to see Khmer people who do not know Vietnamese/Yuon from Hanoi and master-minded Ho Chi Minh (Viet Minh) including Khmer Viet Minh who are behind the Khmer Rouges led by Pol Pot, secretly killing many innocent and well-educated Khmer people.

Why the UN, the world, some of Khmer people are so blind about the secret Hanoi/Yuon and Ho Chi Minh (master minded idiot) who tried to swallow Cambodia and put Laos, Cambodia and Yuon into Indochina and will call Vietnam instead of Indochina just like Yugoslavia in Europe.

Your question "why Khmers followed Yuon..." should be correctly linked to:
Thailand and the Southeast Asian networks of the Vietnamese Revolution 1885-1954.

Vietnamese recruited Laotians and Khmers for they said "Liberated the countries from the French." and so they followed Viets. Why Thais also joined with Viets too?
Thais hated French for taking Western Provinces from them.

Khmers and Laotians followed Viets since then, long ago. But little that they knew, Viet tried to take over Indo China states from the French for themselves.
