The Foreign Ministry has released 20,000 booklets to provide the Thai public with updated information about the government's actions on the Preah Vihear temple issue.
Ministry spokesman Thani Thongphakdi said the booklets, "Information the Thai public should know about the Preah Vihear Temple and the border negotiation between Thailand-Cambodia", were intended to raise public awareness on the issues.
Pasakorn Siriyaphan, Director-General of East Asia Department, said the parliament approved the framework of a survey for demarcating the border with Cambodian border on Oct 28, 2008 and the negotiation process is underway.
"When the talks are finalised, the result of the meeting will be used to seek approval from the parliment under Article 190,'' said Mr Pasakorn.
Thailand will host the Joint Boundary Committee (JBC) with Cambodia next Monday and Tuesday in Bangkok to discuss the border demarcation process.
Thailand shares 798km long border with Cambodia, with many areas still not demarcated.
The 20,000 booklet will be distributed to state agencies and the educational institutions around the country.
People can also request a copy from the East Asian Department, or download it from the Foreign Ministry's website.

Yes! Thai should know clearly and precisely about their history, and don't twist history of Thailand. Also, they should know the fact who built the Preah Vihear temple and land sound the temple.
08:49 AM you and I and millions of Khmer peoples hoping the same thing that the Thai Govt and Intellectuals will finally written the real Thai and Khmer history together. This is too much to ask for from the Siam because they will never admitted the truth for fearing the world will give credits to Khmer on many Thai foods, cultures, land, etc.
A KA PEK will never admitted they were once our slaves during height of Khmer Empire, every one if their provinces belong to our ancestors.
RED or YELLOW Thai they are still Siam, Khmer should not trust them whoever in power in Thailand.
the way i see it, siem tried so hard all along to convince the world that they never had any khmer influence, etc. we know they gained their independence from khmer in around 1246, around the time of the death of khmer mighty king jayavarman VII. before that, they were a part of that mighty khmer empire with its capital at angkor and what we see today at siem reap. i don't understand why siem always tried to discredit khmer, instead of embracing and accepting that khmer civilization gave birth to their nation from the beginning, you know! why siem afraid to let the world know this historical facts? they only talk about how they annexed the western section of cambodia during the dark ages era, evidently after the decline of the great khmer angkor civilization and empire, etc, but they never mention that going before cambodia's dark ages era, khmer of cambodia had an empire stretching all the way to present-day burmese borders to china to malaysia. despite what siem tried to fake distort historical facts, the world still knew from other sources that the mighty khmer empire came before siem's independence, etc, you know! so stop struggling with your identity, siem! accept the fact that your were conceived from the khmer civilization, like it or not, ok! it's a historical fact, get used to it and stop trying to fabricate the fact, ok! just give khmer empire the full credit it deserves, ok! you are the child of the khmer empire, ok!
