On March 8, 2012, some 400 women from Borei Keila and Boeung Kak Lake united in a march to celebrate International Women's Day and to protest against the violence committed against them by the authorities during the recent forced evictions in Phnom Penh.
Land grabbing is an ongoing issue in Cambodia and force is the common method used by the authorities.
Throughout my stay in Cambodia, I have read about and witnessed the active role Cambodian women take in defending their rights.
Although Cambodian women are sometimes perceived to be weak in a men dominated society, I find that Cambodian women are, on many occasions, at the forefront of the fight against human rights violations.
