Odds and Ends: Cambodian fisherman catches a rare crocodile fish (Alligator Gar?)

Cambodian fisherman in Battambang province caught a crocodile fish in a canal but the official of fishery administration department banned its release into the river, citing that it could eat other small fish and put people in danger. Crocodile fish is a rare fish species and it is found in Mekong River. The fish is shaped like crocodile. (Norkor Wat daily)

Firstly, anyone know the genius and spices of this creature.
Secondly, it is no danger to fishes or humans since it is part of the ecosystem for years now.
The danger to fish populations are those permits gave by the CPP to all their cronies many years ago resulting in over fishing and depletion of fishes stocks.

4:43 AM. I agree with you. Not only are the CPP are a danger to the fish population, but also to the population of the Khmer race. These CPP are dangerous and wild, will often attack and when come in contact can be destructive.

CPP should not be allowed out of the jungle! Back to the the Jungle Vietminh leaders!

This fish is exotic species from the pet in aquarium.
Natural home range of this species is North America that was call Aligator Gar Pike.

This creature can grow up to 3 meters.

This fish is not rare fish!!!!

This fish is not "Holy Fish"!!!

This fish have negative impact in native species!!!!

I used to see this species in the royal pond surronded Angkor Wat model in the royal palace, Phnom Penh.
