KI-Media Note: Mr. Sam Borin was a former reporter for Radio Free Asia
Our friend, Sam Borin, has been battling liver cancer for the past year. He has been under the care of the oncology medical team at Georgetown Hospital. The doctors told him last month that there is nothing left they can do to halt the spread of this disease. If he is to get better, it will because of his amazing courage and those mysteries the doctors don’t understand. We have hope he will return to health.
Borin has chosen to be cared for by Hospice at home. He is mostly pain free and in good spirits. Each day is a gift because he is surrounded by his wonderful family: his wife, Samen Sar, his daughter, Romany, and his three sons Ramman, Borom and Sorim.
Friends have set up a trust at Bank of America to honor Borin’s work and life. The donations will be used for expenses not covered by Medical Insurance. Any money not used for end of life expenses will go for scholarships to students from Kampong Chhnang, Borin’s home province, to attend the University of Phnom Penh. To receive a scholarship, the student must be an orphan or from a poor family. The Maryknolls at Phnom Penh University, Education Department will administer the Scholarships.

This is a shocking news. I was too upset here to hear Bong Borin Sam is dying. he has done so much for khmer.

Such is a vagary of life, but still upsets me so much to hear this good decent man is dying.
