New Film Tells Story of One Woman's Escape
A new film explores one woman's dramatic escape from the Khmer Rouge. "The End/Beginning," written and narrated by Cambodian-American Sophal Ear, tells the story of his mother's flight from Cambodia through Vietnam. Sophal Ear says he sees it as "a chance to extend the legacy of my mother to thousands of people, maybe hundreds of thousands of people." The short film follows Sophal Ear as he retraces his mother's escape route from the Cambodian countryside through Vietnam. (Men Kimseng interviewing the writer.)
