Not that the current king or his courtiers know any such sentiment. Now it more like the people are made to feel the pains of the king.

How about a bit of critical thinking fellow khmers? this is a EULOGY by a poet/wordsmith for King J.VII. it doesn't necessarily mean that the King was such a character in real life. how could he control a vast empire without coercion, and violence? yeah you can say that he built hospitals, roads etc.. for the common man, but this reading of a pious king is overdone and was actually started by King Sihanouk to legitimise his own absolute rule and claiming himself equal ranking with J VII.
